Rates have fallen, yes, but if you can't do £50 on a day off from your normal job, you either live somewhere really remote, or you're not doing it right.
That will be the exception - I've been doing this for 5 years now, and on crunching the numbers there is no way am being paid the same for the tasks I did, and the competition - where the fastest finger gets the allocation - is now hotter than ever, so the capacity to obtain these jobs is also less.0 -

The end of the tax year isn't until April 5th. Anyway you are supposed to count the income and expenses on the date that you do the work even if the money has not been received yet. You should be showing a debtor on the accounts that owe you money...but as long as it's been declared in one tax year or the next it doesn't really matter too much as it makes little difference to your tax bill either way.Yay!!
Just a quick query. Although the work was done in February, it was paid in April. Does it count to 2012-2013 tax year for self assessment or do I add it to next years?
Thanks:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

As long as you're consistent, it doesn't really matter. I always put things through as when they get paid.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

It was paid in this tax year so you need to declare it for this year (2012-13). Any money you receive after 6th April should be put on 2013 - 14 tax year.0 -

Not going to argue with that, you've just got to have a fast finger or one eye on the lists, which is easier in these days of mobile internet and email. Failing that, do you know anyone who spends their day sat in front of a computer who'll keep an eye out for you?
You start to notice patterns in how stuff gets offered out, generally if something comes up on my patch on GFK, for example, there's more within the hour and the next day.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
