    Hi there

I've just started mystery shopping and have completed my first assignment for Gapbusters (a fast food one). I was just wondering if its really necessary to print off all the paperwork each time? Although I printed it all off for my first assignment, I didn't seem to need it as all the questions are filled in online. If I just kept a record of my timings, order, fees etc for any future queries - would that be sufficient?

    What does everyone else do?

    Thanks

For jobs that I do regularly, I have created a simple "Template" sheet which covers all the necessary facts that need to be collected - In, Out, Left, Right, Timings etc. Using this system you know that you have all the information required when all the boxes are filled/ticked.

I have these printed off ready for all planned jobs with spares in case I pick up jobs when out and about.

I always download the actual instructions and save on my computer (a file for each company/client) so I can check there are no changes and also have the input codes available.

    Works for me.

I stopped printing paperwork too as it does seem like a waste. I just read them on my phone. I have tried with Dropbox, OneNote and most recently am giving Evernote a try. I had some left over iTunes gift vouchers so upgraded to Premium for £35 for a year so I can use up to 1GB a month.

I prepare the job in an Evernote notebook on my laptop with mostly tick box questions and leave space for some notes. I attach pdfs with the job notes and questionnaire. It then syncs to my phone so I can fill it in while out doing the job. I also upload the photos and timing screenshots to the notebook from my phone camera and this then all syncs back to my laptop so I have all the information on my laptop, in one place (one notebook for each job), when I come to fill in the reports when I get home.

Then when I want to do the job again I can use the same template, I just copy the notebook and use it again. It is very handy to have all the info in one place when you get queries etc.

So far this is working really well for me :D it works better set to sync on wifi only and then you can press the sync button manually on 3G, otherwise it tries to snyc constantly.

Cool tip, how do you type in the boxes when you are using your phone?
Tick boxes work but I can't get the app to type in the boxes.

Thank you so much for the replies and tips. I've had a quick look at Evernote and it looks great - I think I'm going to give it a try.

Also thanks for the heads up at the turnaround of queries - I read earlier in this thread about someone who didn't get paid as they missed the 12 hours window as the query was sent at midnight! I'll be obsessively checking my emails from now on :)

I've signed up to do a couple of other assignments this week - a supermarket one and a diy store. I might not do too many more before the end of the month just in case I'm not doing it right and don't get paid.

Any work done in February will be paid on or around 28th March - a long wait if you are going to stop working. I haven't had any payment problems with GAP, and I have answered the queries received in the timescales they have set.

I didn't realise it was the following month - thanks for telling me. Are they likely to tell me quite quickly if I'm not going to be paid?

I just tap on the box first and it lets me type in it.

Did a supermarket one today and part of the assignment was to ring the store to ask for something. I have tried twice (they said a max of twice) and I was stuck in the aiutomated system (press 1 for this etc) and it cut me off.

On the questionnaire I had to fill in, the 'My calls weren't answered' were greyed out for some unknown reason and won't let me select them. I just had to write 'questionnaire would not let me select calls weren't answered' in the 2 or 3 spaces about the call.
