Anyone else been refused tap water in restaurant

  • more and more places have a dispenser up near the till eg cameron's and synge and burn have lovely dispensers usually with orange and mint leaves in them. if i'm buying food then i expect to at least be offered water even if i don't want it. or the next time i go elsewhere

    That's what they used to do. Do you remember when you used to get a meal on the flight to London? You were hardly likely to starve on a one hour flight. Pointless.

    it was quite good if you were a nervous flier because the normality of getting served food and eating it was a welcome distraction from the fact that you were 30,000 feet above the ground.

    Cafe Nero and Avoca, to name but two, have the right idea. They have a jug and glases available near the till so you can help yourself.

    You dont have to pay it, therefore they're certainly not TAKING it from you.

    Its not hospitality - they're running a business. You either pay their prices or you dont.

    Bemused that you're happy to pay Cafe Neros prices for their rather average food, but think they're great because they give you "free" water. :rotfl:

    No, if anywhere expected me to pay for a drink of tap water I just wouldn't go there.
