I work for a company which sells things on eBay for other people and businesses. We have recently had two out-of-business UK wedding dress shops come through us with remaining stock to get what they can.

Nice stuff, with good brands, and whilst you can take detailed photos and write up the description, they are always going to go at a great discount to the new retail prices; people simply won't pay as much for something they can't try-on and see.

They were all put up for auction at £5 each, and people got some terrific bargains, which they must have thought was too good to be true, but the reality was the seller was forced to sell, and needed a good average price and cash rather than stock.

Be careful buying on eBay, but sometimes if it's too good to be true, sometimes it is true - understand who the seller is.

Just wanted to say thank you for the great replies and advice. We're looking to get married next summer so will keep people posted. I am very tempted to just go for the cheap one to see as my parents have kindly said they will foot most of the bill as they know my financial situation and I know they're not that well off either!

    Thanks again xx

I am actually getting mine from America, with the dollar being so weak at the moment, I have found my dress (sottero) and 4 bridesmaids (dessy) for less than £500 Brucie bonus

I tried finding my dress on ebay but couldnt :(

    Hello,

Which shop did you use in US to get your Maggie? I've found the Maggie I want I just don't want to pay £1400 for it ( or more like can't afford )

Sounds like you got yourself a proper bargain!
  • not to malign anyone or whatsoever, but not only are wedding dresses in China cheap, all other items are cheaper as well. this is because China has low labor costs. labor is among the most important factors of a business, so lower costs on this side will certainly mean lower costs of their products.
  • just thought you should know that i just recieved my landy bridal dress, and wow!!! its just wonderful, exactly like the picture and the quality is second to none! you cannot tell it was a tenth of the price! i am over the moon!!

    hey,

i bought one of ebay once and it was a terrible cut etc, you really do get what you pay for - so just be careful :)

    xx

Thats a bit of a generalised statement not all the sellers on ebay are the same - I paid £92 for mine and it was the same quality as ones I tried on that cost 10 times more.

But I agree you do need to be careful.
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p
