Sorry for the blurriness of the pic, but can anyone tell me what kind of spider this is, and should it be in this country?!

Roughly what size is it?

Going from what OH says, his 'butt' is about the size of a garden spider inc legs.
We got a garden spider in the house a couple weeks ago. OH kindly moved it to the shed and put it into the corner where they usually hang out. It sauntered off into the corner, then shot out of it again like a bullet. Mr Ugly then appears and we understand why! (and it also explains the garden spider carcass OH found in the shed too)
I haven't had the courage to hang out in the shed long enough to inspect and chat. Will leave a questionnaire for him next time...

Doesn't look exactly like this photo (false widow spider) but enough that I would stay a long way away from it!

It could be a wolf spider, a false widow, or just a big house spider! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

You call that a spider? This is a spider!

Looks like a Giant house spider to me. These, when large enough, can bite through the human skin so steer clear of catching it with your hands. The action of catching it will scare the hell out of it and its first reaction will be to bite in defence.
We currently have a lot of these about and im a spider phob
