Old Style Daily Thread Weds 12th Sept 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 10th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning

BB, hope you get Maud sorted soon.
Overcast here today, looks like rain soon.
I was only working for free as I am contracted to do 5 days holiday work & my room was unusable due to building work, I'd gone in but was unable to work as there was no power in my room, I don't want to give anybody the chance to say I wasn't pulling my weight.
Fish fed, DW going, packups made, breakfast eaten, time I got a wiggle on.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Bad night here last night, ended up at the emergency Dr with dd, who had another terrible migraine, she was unable to speak properly, and could'nt see well, she was making no sense with her words, and being violently sick, rushed her to dr, who injected her with anti sickness thing, and gave her 2 new lots of tablets to try, she was home and in bed by 7 and has slept for 12 hrs solid, I really hope these new tablets work, its horrible seeing her in such pain.

OH also snored all night so feeling a bit  this morning. DD back at college today and I am at work. Cheesy bean pie for dinner with sausages, its made so just needs heating through.

Work meeting tonight at 7, which hopefully wont go on for more that 2 hours, and at least I get paid for it.

BB fingers crossed for maud today xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud in the sky, sun trying to break though here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Boys have settled back in to school very well, with DS1 up and downstairs having organised and eating his own brekkie, whilst I'm in the shower in the mornings - he seems much happier in himself - hoping this will continue. Don't know what's been said/done at school - but since the first day back he seems to have grown up and realises if he doesn't put the work in he's not going to get anywhere, he's also not got the teacher that we had all the problems with last year - at the meetings I went to the Deputy Head and Head of Maths guaranteed me he wouldn't be put in with that teacher and they have actually stuck to their word (even though last year they did things they guaranteed/promised they wouldn't!) - so hoping he sticks with it and gets his head down.

Work was steady but not horrendously busy yesterday. Just working until lunchtime today so will come home and do a few jobs, but I'm working for 4 hours tomorrow as extra as we don't have enough staff and they needed help - one of those things where it sounds like a good idea at the time but then you commit and then have to do it as you've said you will! Oh well, will just be a matter of getting the job done and I'll just have to be a bit more organised as I will have lost one of my days' off - but DH working Sat morning, so can utilise that before we go away Sat afternoon. Going to put another load in the WM in a mo, if it's dry after work - will hang it on the line.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg - remembered to get the sausages out of the freezer, so tonight will be sausages, mash, onion gravy, veg and LO yorkshire puds. May do a spag bol for tomorrow night.

We have a new farm shop opened near us, it sells it's own reared meat that they butcher themselves, it's supposed to be good quality and very good value - will be going to have a browse - and see what I think - will buy a little to see if the quality etc is any good.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

  • Good Morning All

Redruby - hope DD feels better, I suffer once in a blue moon and they are terrible.

Very cold start here but the sun is shining. Going to be a lot colder this year as we have fields opposite our house, there used to be a lot of trees at the edge which cut off a lot of the wind but the farmer has just cut them down. Think he has done it because they were likely to blow down anyway. The view is much nicer though.

Plans today - in office at mo doing essentials. Then jump in shower and pop out to the city, need to get some petrol and a few bits from the £ shop. Home again bit more office work then I will finish the darn ironing.

Picked up a chicken cheap from Aldi the other day so roast chicken with all the trimmings for dinner.

    Have a great day all.x

Morning all, fingers crossed for me today please as we go to view a school that I hope will take my disabled son. He has serious behaviour issues due to his disability and mainstream education can't manage him.

Red ruby - might be an idea to ensure that your daughter is drinking enough water, as I find this helps with migraines. Ridiculous maybe but I find I need to drink about 3litres a day so I feel like I am swimming inside, but no headaches! When I don't drink I become sluggish. Only been doing a week or two, but the difference is amazing!

Lost 5lbs on my diet last week which Im pleased about, but still have a fair bit left!!! Only plans I have for this week are to finish decorating the hall, but before I do that I have to manage a group of young beavers tonight. About 20 5-8 yr olds. Thinking of doing a mini Olympics. Should keep them busy for an hour!!!

Tea tonight will be steak for dh and me (bought on an oops sticker!) and something high fat for the boys as they need to put some weight on! Hugs to those in need. X
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning all, sun is shining and washing on the line.
Esmf73, I really wish you luck in your school search. As you probably gathered if you've read any of my recent postings my son is also disabled with behaviour that challenges. He is now 20 so I'm done with all the school stuff. Once I did get him into the right school he really benefited. However as he has learning difficulties it sounds as though I was looking for a different sort of environment than you are. There was no question of my son in a mainstream school. The very, very best of luck with it all. Hang on in there until you find the right place and your son will benefit for the rest of his life.
I'm going to be working today, after a trip to the gym.
The neighbour who complained about my son living in the community has now escalated the complaints (all that's actually happened is that a cup got dropped over his fence and one night the night staff had the TV on too loud). Staff have told him what they have done to solve these problems, but neighbour still not happy. Now he says that the care provider aren't supporting my son properly. Rubbish in my opinon, but iit has escalated the whole situation up the management structure of the care provider and it's all becomng rather complicated - As he could be seen as a whistle blower. There's nothing to fear from an inspection but it will be disruptive.
Really warm cyber hugs to mgrained daughters, poorly pets and those with siick relatives. Also anyone who just needs a hug.

    Morning all:j:j

    Chilly here this morning,

Well the girls have just left for school. Another half day for them today. But tomorrow will be there first full day.

Its my wife's day off today as soon as she has dropped the girls off at school she is off to the supermarket.
This afternoon my wife has a job interview. She has been looking to change jobs for awhile.

This morning I'm off to do my wife's nan's and granddads garden. This is not the nan's garden that I normally do and have been doing for the last 3 years. This is the other one. My wife's granddad is 91 now and had a fall in the garden a couple of weeks ago. His wife who is frail has said that she no longer wont's him to carry on doing it.(he dose) So I'm off to cut the grass and do the weeding for them this morning.

Lunch will be fruit bread for me today.

Dinner tonight for my wife and I will be a take away curry form asda. The Twins will be having dinner at my Mums and Dads today.

Well I hope that you all have a great day.

    Enjoy:j:j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

Redruby (((Hugs))) for DD. I used to get terrible migraines with zigzags, couldn't see, vomiting etc, but they calmed down after I had the children, I still get them but only once in a blue moon thankfully, hopefully they can sort things for her, has she had an MRI? If not ask your GP if there is any possibility of her having one x
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Morning all, bbbbrrrrr its a tad chilly .
Was woken again this morn at 4ish by a howling dog. Cannot figure out what house it is coming from:mad: if it carries on I will be buying earplugs.

Everyone up and out to school so just me and woofer again. who is currently snoring really loudly:rotfl::rotfl:.

I clicked my heating on for an hour yesterday, only to check it was working ok;);). Changing the curtains in the front room for the autumn/winter ones and putting the door curtains up as well I think. Am washing the front room fleeces atm just to freshen them up.

Have popped another casserole in the slowcooker for tea tonight .

Achy today, hips and back are actually really hurting so gonna fill the hot water bottle up , make a cuppa and curl up on the sofa and do some surfing for an hour (or 2;)) to hopefully ease the aches.

Hope you are all well and have good days:)

Redruby.............. hope your daughter is feeling better soon
