Old Style Daily Thread Mon 11th Sept 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 10th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
I'm off to work soon, packups are done & fish fed, I need to have some breakfast & unload the DW before I go, I'm still way behind with my work, but I'm not going to keep working extra hours for nothing.
I had an email from DS1 yesterday, he loves the steak stone we got him for his birthday & has used it twice already.
I need to have a chat with DD2 about her Dad & help her find a way forward.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Good Morning Hester and all to follow

Hester - didn't realise you weren't getting paid for all those extra hours

Going to be a cool one today in Essex and I don't mind at all. Was nice having warm weather at the weekend but I just don't get anything done. Today have to drop DD at the station then lots to catch up with in the office and need to attack the ironing.

Need to work out what is for dinner today, DS needs to eat early as he has football training but DD has her late day at college. Not my most favourite day.

On a different note, have just discovered e clothes (I know I am particularly late to this party :rotfl:) I dont use them for the actual cleaning but to buff iykwim. Have just ordered some more from Amazon. House isn't spotless at the moment but all the chrome and glass are gleaming :D

Thats it from me, have a great day all.x

Morning all - yesterday I was exhausted after my medical stuff, and nothing got done. My blood pressure meds have been doubled and the application for a prescription exemption certificate is being processed by the GP. I didn't sleep at all last night but might actually go to bed soon, in which case I don't think much will be achieved today either! Definitely treating today as a me-day as I have 2 more medical things to come this week. If I do summon any energy today, I'll wipe the kitchen or bathroom over but that's it. Still enjoying the cake I made on Sunday.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud in the sky, but wet underfoot everywhere as it rained heavily in the early hours but has stopped now. Forecast is sunshine and showers. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Work wasn't quite so busy yesterday so did get chance to catch our breath, so didn't feel quite so exhausted when I got home. I did manage to make pack-ups for today, prep and cook the dinner, iron some school shirts and get the bread ingredients in to the machine and set it to do it's stuff - all before DH came home from work. Tonight dinner will be fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg. I'm trying to do some jobs each evening (if this works out I will continue so I have more free time on my days off!) as I'm working an extra day this week due to staff shortage - one of those things when I was asked thought it would be a good idea, now I actually have to do it - I wonder why I said I would! Just have to think positive and think of the extra!

Will have to have a think what we will be eating tomorrow night as not really sure, may get some sausages out to defrost and have sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy - have some LO yorkshires to use up - so could have those too. The temperature's really dropped and I can really feel the difference first thing in the morning and in the evening, think we're all going to need winter food soon.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Aren't these a version of the microfibre cloths?

HH the more you do FOC the more they will expect.

Awake early due to Skye:o, but wanted to know the Murray result, would have stayed up if I could have watched it, but listening on the radio I gave ib after the third set.

If it dries up will go to town then A*di, if not just A*di, though the house does need some TLC, will do a bargain with DH, for him to stay home and do a Hoover and dust, while I shop ;) anything rather than shopping is usually a good bargain.

    Morning all:j:j

    Chilly but dry here.

Well twins two is up and about. But twin one is still fast asleep In her bed, She is going to have to get up soon as My Mum is coming to pick them up at 8:30.
They were both very tired last night when they came back form my Mums at 6:45pm. After there half day at school and there dance lesson last night.

My wife is at work today. And the girls are off to My Mums and Dads for the day. It will be there last full day there for a while as from Thursday they will be at school all day. I think they Mum and Dad will miss having them as they have since they have been born been able to play a large part In there life. Now it will be down to school holidays and other odd days,

I cooked steak and chips for dinner last night as I could not think of anything to do. The trouble is that we were going to have steak and chips tonight! I'm now going to really have to think of what to do tonight.

Iv got a few things that I need to get done today. So I will start them as soon as my Wife has gone out to work and the girls have gone.

Its started to get quite chilly on a morning and last thing at night here, Autumn is well on the way. Some of the local trees are starting to change colour.
Oh how the months of the year seem to fly. We have not really had any summer, Spring was very cold. It all seems to have rolled into one this year.

Well I hope that you all have a great day

    Enjoy:j:j

Morning all, got back from holiday late last night and just fell into bed after 12hours traveling (with some breaks obviously). Only went to France! Had a really wonderful time and feel refreshed and restored.
Today the plumber is coming to fix the terminally broken tap in the kitchen, then I will go for a work out, shopping (no food in except the cheese I brought back) amd hopefully go see my son and find out how he has been coping while I've been away.
Got some unexpected paid work to do this week so work on house will have to wait.
Have no idea what to have for lunch or dinner! Brought back some very cheap tins of chick peas so might have a chick pea salad for lunch.........dinner, well will see what's cheap, but quite fancy a stir fry.
Best wishes to those facing medical difficulties...........must be horrendous and exhausting. Hope it all sorts itself into an acceptable solution.
Sun is shining, it definitely feels like autumn though.

    Morning all,

Beautiful sunny day here, slightly chilly but looks good for later, will get a wash on after this.

I made the marrow lemon curd yesterday, its nice, got a slightly funny jam like texture but the taste is lovely, also made a few lemon drizzle cake for dd to take to work, they came out well too.

Today I need to drop dd at work, come home and have a tidy / clean through, then do an online shop which I did not get round to yesterday.

Dinner tonight is roast pork and all the trimmings, and I want to make a cheesy bean pie for tomorrow night,

    Have good days all xx

    Morning All!
yesterday's washing just put out again as it got wet yesterday! Have a meeting to discuss the fate of several trees in the churchyard with the county tree expert shortly so need to get a shift on.
Today, apart from that, is going to be a day spent gathering together all the paperwork needed for the big church inspection which starts tomorrow. I know I'm going to spend several minutes bewailing the fact that my filing system is far from perfect....it'd be good if as a result I improved it!
Not too much HW for today I suspect. Also need to get DGD's school cardigan finished as I'm sure she'll be needing it soon. (Fingers crossed that her old one still fits!)
For all battling with various medical issues - take care of yourselves and don't try to do too much. (HUGS) for them and for all feeling miserable just now.

    Think twice before spending anything!

Morning All:wave: hope your all well.
Sun is out along with a breeze so woofers bedding is on the line, ground is wet so have to presume it rained at some point through the night.
Had a text from ds1 saying that he was ok and settling in well. Has made friends with some others on his floor and shown off his culinary skills by cooking them all dinner last night. Sigh of relief from me , hate to think he was all on his own.

    Dw is working fine now:j:j.
Godsons Assembly yesterday was brilliant, I havent laughed so much in ages.

Ds 4 has exhausted himself, first week back to school has knocked him for 6. (He has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome along with some other illnesses). He came home from school yesterday and slept from 4pm right through to 11, got up had something to eat and drink and then went back to bed, struggled to wake him this morn, my sister picked him up and took him into school luckily he only has 2 lessons this morning so he will be home just after 11, will see how he is then. The change in weather contributes to it as well. So I think we will need another meeting with school to see if we can jig things round a bit so he gets enough rest time , last year they were great and arranged for him to have webcam lessons if he couldnt manage to get into school, hopefully it will be the same this year.

Dinner is mac cheese with something, not sure what the something will be yet.

Off to clean the bathroom as didnt get round to doing it yesterday.

    Have great days all:)
