Have said kids can have any money they make. As have involved them in weighing, photoing and listing so only fair.

Good experience - it's great to get kids involved in anything vaguely entrepreneurial without becoming one of those annoying pushy parents who do everything for them. I.e. work colleagues who get job application forms for kids, badger them to complete them, order NI numebrs for them, take them to work every day, wipe their noses.... etc. :D
but then my mum retired and has really helped

My MIL is champing at the bit to retire and look after babies for Mrs E and I :rotfl:
  • My mum looking after them was an interim measure, as was actively searching for a child minder as I had been promoted and had to then work mostly in week. When I did finally find someone and told her, she was upset and asked why she couldnt carry on, which was brilliant as had only been looking as didnt want to take the mick.

I make the kids earn their pocket money every sunday with jobs and I check them, but when they spend their money, they know theyve earnt it. I think its key that they understand the value of money. DD2 is a bit of a spendthrift but has massively improved as when she wants a new top, she now can save and buy herself. She has to think whether that top is worth 2 weeks of jobs or not.

What a great mum you are HDK - your girls must be a real credit to you:A

Back to Grand Designs I'm afraid....I can never understand
a). where people get such a mahoosive budget from in the first place?
    and
b). how they can manage (afford!) to complete the internal furnishings / fancy lights / SMEG products / Italian tiles etc etc etc when they have gone over budget and project timescale!!!

PS. The 'tele-tubbie' house is on More 4 just now.....

yes, watching too! I know how she feels having no running water, I came back from hols and we had no boiler for 2 weeks. Although we had no kitchen for 6 months (not even the kitchen room as it was a flat roof extension that we knocked down to make way for footings). As well as sharing a toilet with EVERYONE, it was quite nasty at times.
Its when the grand design folk spend the cost of a small house on an oven and you think WHAT!!!
Both times we extended those last few months are quite desperate. We have used that many gizits at the end (like mums old lounge carpet). Still have a single bulb fitting hanging in utility now as didnt get round (couldnt affoard) to buy a light fitting. Plus the hours I worked were bonkers, I used to go to work to my extra job and the staff would say "what are you working for today?" as it was a standing joke, shower valve, the whole weekend for a front door, paint, tiles..... I still get folks asking me about the house renovation and weve been done about 10 months, esp my red door!

A few weeks there was a bloke who was about £2k over budget!! As I say, enjoy but prefer sarah B and homes under the hammer.

    Ebay - 26 watchers 3 bidded items.

On long day again tomoz so will get home when finishing!

Payday today, so added up all my months savings and came to £545 for OP, whit wooo. Think most by saving on house insurance, travel insurance as well as my ebay earnings. Last months was about £105 so fantastic month.
Car now running on diesel rather than fumes and cupboards groaning.
Did esp well on oats so simple in Asda, usually £2.28 for 1 box of 10 but now £1 --- bought 8 (yes I know.....)

I could easily spend ££££s on my house as would love a pad with the 'wow' factor, in a way though I am pleased that I have a shabby house with huge amounts of potential re extensions / development etc than a house (like my last place) which had no real possibility to do anything with.....

What an amazing O/P you achieved last month:T:T:T WTG!! and your eb*ys looking good.

I don't get paid until last working day of the month so very, very, very, very poor:p

  • Unfortunately we (DH) now get paid same day, previously he got paid mid month. I am really struggling as now experience a real arrrgggghhh, 6 months on and still not cracked it!

Thanks, I am really pleased with Op. Now playing with spreadsheet.

Happy weekend HDK, sounds like you're eBay's best customer! I have 10 parcels sitting on the worktop to be posted this morning, but as it's a balmy 0 degrees celsius here, I can't quite force myself out of the door :D

Profit wise, I think I broke £50, but only just. Still 2-3 parcels to go next week, but they're total skip fodder and will go for £1 or so...

Thats very impressive Ed. Im currently at £16.49 but still some time left yet so fingers crossed. I'm afraid I will just wait till FLW and the whole lot will be back on, with a slight price reduction. Although toying with car boot as have NEVER done before.

Had lovely shift, in my "extra" job, which is not like working as dont do enough tov be a chore. Although not taxing enough to do FT.

Up to £16.70 Topcash back, put hols money to be chased as still not showing up.

Naughtily bought 2 seperate items on ebay, both monsoon, a top and a skirt for christmas night outs, cost less than £6 in total and items arrived today, both in perfect condition and fit! Success!

Extra hour in bed tomoz, hopefully zumba too, then chores. Off mon and tues so need to study......
