We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.
This is to keep it a safe and useful space for MoneySaving discussions. Threads that are – or become – political in nature may be removed in line with the Forum’s rules. Thank you for your understanding.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

They only need to install an anti-spam bot system to prompt posters for a random screen password before accepting a post, and this would solve it. I reported 20 odd posts around 2pm, which quickly disappeared. Just come back to find another lot. Come on mods, we all want to try to reply to posters, but the genuine threads are lost in a sea of crap!!!0

Why dont they just put a swear filter on the url being posted (or an autocorrect)?
Easiest way, it then cuts it down to below the ten characters required to post.
Or IP ban the clown (assuming he doesnt have the intelligence to hide behind a nym server).
I wrote a alias hunting system which worked on the OpenTopic/ubb.x forum software which although took a few years to develop was very good at spotting alias/spam accounts (imo
)
Even used artificial intelligence in grammar and spelling pattern matching as well as other user "fingerprints" to highlight suspected alias accounts

The simplest thing, with no risk of false positives, would be a restriction on the number of new threads people can start in a day.
To be fair to the prolific genuine posters a sliding scale ought to work - one new thread post max per day, maybe two, until the member's been around for, say, a week, then increase it,etc.
OK, it won't stop people flooding with replies to other posts but those can be filtered using the ignore list and at least wouldn't clutter up the board index.0
