Royal Mail Redirection

I too did mine online without much bother as the debit card I used was listed at the property address. I thought you had to be on the Electoral Register too but my friend did the redirection online at an address they were not on the register for. I assume they do a credit check just to make sure the person was listed in some way at the address.
I received the letter which is supposed to go to my old address to inform the residents a redirection has been set up at my new address - they had redirected it!! :rotfl:0 -
The thing to experiment with would be an "infinite loop" redirection by setting up redirections back and forth between 2 properties.
Then, send a few letters to yourself at either one of the properties and check the local news to see whether they report postmen mysteriously dying of exhaustion at the sorting centre.

so paid by card and passed the online checks
Not sure what your point is but go cat was addressing cwcw's scepticism that redirection could be set up without presenting ID.
You don't need to present physical ID when setting up redirection via the Royal Mail website.
I was very grateful for this because the Post Office website only offers a form to complete that must be either posted or taken to the Post Office with documentary ID. I couldn't meet any of the proof of address requirements. What goes around - comes around0 -

because your post inferred you simply set up a redirection with no checks whatsoever
its no secret that redirections can set up online.
I posted and linked as much earlier in the thread0 -

I set it up online, then renewed it online. I just had to pay with a card registered to the address I was redirecting from.0

Does anyone know how the Royal Mail prove your identity online, specifically?
Just tried to do it and it said it was unable to verify identity.
Tried to pay with card registered here. We're on electoral role, all bank accounts registered here, etc.
Frustrating! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0
