What first attracted you to First Utility? ... and why have you decided not to switch to them now?

I'm on the EDF Online Saver Version 10 tariff which comes to an end on 30th September. I can't get anything cheaper by switching and the Blue tariff which has just been pulled was going to be considerably more expensive. I have today applied to switch to Scottish Power through topcashback to earn £42 cashback. Scottish Power was the cheapest for me on the comparison site followed by EDF Blue and although it's going to be dearer than my existing tariff it was still cheaper than the EDF Blue tariff. The Scottish Power Online Fixed to Jan 2014 tariff will probably be pulled any minute now so anyone worrying about having to pay penalty fees for switching before the end of September need not worry. I have been given an activation date of 17th October to switch to SP and EDF will continue to apply my existing terms and prices until I move away. I have been with EDF for about 7 years now and always found them to be the cheapest but not any more so unfortunately it's time to move on!
  • Hi Shaggy.
It happened to me on Friday, I phoned up to apply for the Blue+ tariff and was told they had pulled it.
So I went online to my account and when you sign in on the left of the page down at the bottom it says CHANGE TARRIF I clicked on it on was took to a page which let me change to the Blue+ until April 2014.
So if you are online try it, it worked for me.

Thanks but I have no "Change product" button (I have read their FAQs about how to change the tarriff).
Doesn't look like it's available for me (I'm on Fixed saver V2).
  • I was on the Fixed Saver V2 also, but on Friday the CHANGE TARIFF was on the the left hand side, but since I pressed it on Friday to change to the Blue+ it as gone, it's very strange it has gone because the V2 only ends on the 30th September.

I am not sure why you think this is strange at all.
    There's a perfectly logical explanation.
There was a small time gap between them withdrawing it via phone and updating the on-line system.
You got in and got lucky - well done, but nothing strange.

The imminent demise of Blue+ was flagged up on here for at least a week prior to it's axing.
More than enough time to make a move.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Just gone via Scottish powers offering via quidco. Price wise the edf and Scottish power were very similar just the fixed period was four more months on edf. I'd imagine Scottish power will pull their tariff soon so people don't make the same mistake I did and just sign up to it. You're free to cancel if a better deal comes up. I'd imagine someone will offer something better soon to take Edfs potential customers away ....

True, as I mentioned above I only had myself to blame. The Scottish power offering at least in Yorkshire is very similar price wise anyway
