When people comment on your dog...

I do find that many foreigners are petrified of dogs though.
Yesterday I had a lady in a sari and five kids screaming the place down in a bus stop I was passing with both dogs on lead...!0 -
I get lots of comments from people because my dog is GSD. Little do they know that in the last few weeks she's been chased off by a yorkshire terrier!0

Sorry to hear this OP and hopefully the child will think twice before saying similar in the future. Remarks like that also tend to resonate because we know that they are getting older and it forces us to face the potential of losing them (I'm in major denial about our old pony at the moment)I get lots of comments from people because my dog is GSD. OP sorry about your experience.. HUGS
My one.. well.. from people passing us who do not have dogs - "owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, she is lovelyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" and she is gettin cuddles.
From people with dogs - nothing much as I hold on to her lead and almost trottle her while she is trying to get to passing dogs and possibly eat them. Sighhhhh0 -
We get" ah is she puppy?" to which we reply "er no she's 14".
She's a beagle and the floppy ears look very cute and puppy like I guess.0 -
MIllie2008, I hope you pony is ok.0

We usually get "oh look, a sausage dog" which causes me to always say back "He's a Basset Hound" I had one kid tell me I didn't know anything because he was adamant that my pooch was a sausage dog.....ho hum!!
And also "He's got big ears" "He's lovely" and when my DB took him for a stroll once "He's red eyed, has he been on the wacky baccy?"which I must admit I did find a little amusing.

My dog who had to be pts 7 weeks ago was quite big so I always got the "I bet he eats a lot/costs a lot to feed" etc and "Whose walking who", "You must have a big house" etc etc. People asked all the time if he was a puppy as he looked young and had tons of energy up to early this year although he was 11. Then suddenly he went downhill, he lost weight and started to walk really slowly. An elderly man who I used to see and talk to sometimes hadn't seen me for a while and when he did he said "Oh what's happened to your dog - he looks really thin and ill". I really tried not to but I burst into tears. I knew he didn't have much time left and it really upset me. The man was very apologetic and very embarrassed that he had upset meThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

I own a Staff, along with many others near me, yet I don't often see many other Staffs on our walks. When I pass the local young men who hang around in a group by the local shops with her in the evenings she often gets lots of fuss and comments like 'that dog is bangin!' 'Aw thst's just like the dog I want!' etc
Always find it amusing that these 'tough' young men turn into a puddle of mush over my 'hard nut' (yeah right) pooch!0
