Wondering if anyone can help please. The above phone belongs to my daughter and she has had it about 2 months. When she first got it - she could connect to facebook etc via the wifi at home or wherever she was. A few weeks ago it stopped connecting to wifi and it won`t go into any network options such as facebook. The message `network error ` keeps appearing.

We have been back to Tesco twice and they have fiddled about with it, told her to swap sim cards (so she tried mine in it) and it still does not connect. We have also uninastalled Virgin (our internet provider) and installed it again. Also they couldn`t log on in Tesco using Tesco wifi.

Just wondering if anyone else might have experienced this and if its possible to rectify. I don`t want to send the phone in for repair as according to Tesco can take anything upto 14 working days. Any ideas will be gratefully tried.

Many thanks.

This may have helped to connect to the mobile internet, but a phone doesn't need any sim to connect to wifi.

    Uninstalled? Where and how?

Nobody will be able to help without knowing what you have already done trying to connect to your home wifi.

Has the phone been put into offline mode?

There is a guide on here to switch offline mode on/off.

If that does not fix issue, try a master reset - backup all your stuff to pc.

    Thank you both for replying.
I have spoken to my daughter and the phone will connect to wifi (sorry I may have been confusing you) but won`t let her onto any internet options ie twitter, facebook and google.

I would try a master reset in that case, backup everything that is important on the phone.

If that fails, then back to Tesco, tell them all that has been tried. They have to fix or replace. Maybe taken it to a local mobile shop for a quick look. And if all that is exhausted and Tesco refuse to replace the phone, go direct to Samsung.

Thanks OneADay, I`ll get her to try a master reset (I`m sure the phoneshop in Tesco did this a few weeks but they have played with it for ages I`m not sure what they have actually done, don`t suppose it will hurt to do it again to see if it will sort the problem out)

I`ll let you know how she gets on.

We`ve decided this morning that if a master reset won`t work then we will swap phones she can have my Nokia (both had the same but due to over use!!!!! lol my daughters managed to die) and I`ll have the samsung as only need to make calls and texts.
lemontart we also bought this in a hurry when the Nokia broke.
  • Hi,

I got this phone on contract for my 12yr old in April and have had problems with it since.
The photo texting has never worked and although, like yourself, facebook etc worked initially, she hasn't been able to connect to it since.
I should have contacted Tesco, and as I'm not technically minded lol and couldn't sort it out myself, my daughter said "don't worry, I'll use my laptop for the net and I'm not really bothered about photo texts", so I left it.
NOW I've had to send the phone away to Tesco repairs as we couldn't get it to charge at all.
Just received a reply from them saying the USB connecter is broken and it will cost me £51.01 to repair as the warranty wont cover accidental damage ? - really not sure what to do now.......I only got the phone because it was cheap (£10 per month all in), so either pay for the repair OR pay for the next 16 months and have a phone that she can't use..and have to buy another one !.
Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is I think maybe you'd be better exchanging the phone for another as the problem with facebook seems a common one...please don't wait and be like me - just incase !! xx
