Tesco Job Application Form

Hi, my daughter has an application form to complete for job in Tesco's. Is there anyone that could give advice on how to answer the Questionnaire (Screening) on the back pages ie. Question 1,

I am the sort of person who....

A) Gives support to other people
B) Negotiates with others
C) Is able to problem solve
D) Speaks clearly

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This needs to be answered quickly and give your first gut answer. it just lets Tesco HR know what type of person you are and helps them fit you in to the company. They base training and stuff on the answers. I don't think they have right or wrong answers.

I assume you have to pick one of the four answers? I would be tempted to write 'all of the above'!!! Do the subsequent questions have these 4 answers mixed in with others, so that the marker (probably a computer) eventually comes out with a list of what values your daughter thinks are important? If so, get her to tick what she thinks is the most important value for the job for which she is applying.

Hint: IMHO the most important quality for a manager is problem solving, and for a cashier is giving support to others. But I don't work for Tesco....except indirectly as a mystery shopper :o

  • if this is one of the fill in the dot application forms please be aware that no-one actually reads it - it is scored by placing a template over the top and counting the value of the answers the overall score then decides wether you get through to interview stage - the main thing tesco look for are team players

My son filled out one of these application forms last year. Got called to an interview with about 20 other people - group interview. After question/answering session they then split up into small groups and done an hours work on the shop floor - pulling forward the shampoo's and hair stuff is what my son did that day.

He didn't get the job or payment for that hours work. Bit cheeky of tesco's I think to get a load in for interviews and get the shop floor tidied up for free!

    Just for info.

Why not just answer the questions honestly; if she's not the sort of person they're looking for she may not fit in anyway.

    Yup, I agree with you.

I had to fill out one with 90 questions for my current job!

They are usually designed to throw up any inconsistencies so it's to best to answer as truthfully as you can ...
