    The long haul....

Finally got a letter from Santander today.

"Unfortunately I am unable to action your request at this time.. Please provide us with a recent Lloyds TSB bank statement dated with the last 3 months.

Please return the enclosed to us in the prepaid envelope provided.

    ... Or else ring them on 08459 724724 ...."

So won't yet have a statement from the Club Lloyds anyway, so am wondering whether any other Lloyds Vantage accounts would suffice, or really do I have to crawl through their 0845 etc etc.

Anyone else got a similar letter today?

Yes, I received the same letter. I just printed out an online statement from my Lloyds Club a/c and sent that.

I could, but I wouldn't know if I needed to do that until (and if) the next regular payment didn't come out as planned in May. And if I did the one off and then re-set up the regular payment after, I might be duplicating it (if you see what I mean).

You could set up two new ones now for different days to the originals for £1 each. If they all pay in May then delete the two new ones, but if the originals don't pay you have a safety net, and you just delete the originals.

Bit of mucking about I admit, but should cover you.

Yes, I'll give that a shot, thank you. None of this would've been necessary if Santander had set up the DD's I posted to them (I did enclose the print out of bank statement with them too). It seems too much of a coincidence that neither mine or OH have been processed, and they were sent in separate envelopes. It would appear that some others are having problems with getting their Santander ones set up as well.

You weren't taking the easy route by choosing the Santander DDs but they were still on the list I compiled what now seems a million years ago, albeit with a disclaimer. Even though I said I no longer maintain the original list, I have now taken Santander off that list because it is too painful to watch the self-harm people are doing themselves with it. Not sure anyone will take any notice, but at least I can't be blamed now.

Why don't you just go with the Tesco DDs and end chasing the Santander ones - it's what I have been suggesting for months.

Yeah, that's what I'm doing with Tesco as mentioned above, just hope the DD from OH Lloyds to my Tesco and my Lloyds to OH's Tesco will work because they state when setting it up the sending account should be in the same name as the receiving.

Why didn't you each open two Tesco accounts, one Internet Saver and one Instant Access Savings Account?

To be honest, I'm just sick and tired of opening accounts, was just hoping I could use existing ones.

Is it possible to pay into these from multiple accounts, i.e Halifax, Santander, Club LLoyds etc

Yes it is. I've had as many as 8 DDs on my Internet Saver and 6 DDs on my Instant Access Savings Account at the same time.

Just a warning to ING customers will have their existing DD killed at the time their savings account is finally moved over to the Barclays system, and cannot be resurrected. This information was rather hidden in a massive info pack they sent me.
