Zero feedback bidder blues

Newbies are often winners of my auctions, as they come in with the highest bids. If I was to block them, I would lose out, and so would everyone else who blocks them.
eBay will never give you the option to block newbies. It would just be silly as it would put off new buyers big time. Can you imagine signing up and then never being allowed to bid on anything? It would be bad for business for eBay.
Give them a chance, as they are starting from scratch. A bit of patience never does any harm. And have you ticked the options to block bidders with -1 feedback and 2 or more non paying strikes within the last 30 days? All these help to get buyers that will pay.
I hope your newbies pay soon!

Ok I need to ask what I'm sure is probably a daft question.......but when you say you want newbies to contact you first to ask a question - what do you want them to say?
If a newbie has all the information he needs on the auction page, why would he get in touch with you? Even if he did get in touch, what does that do to prove he will be a good buyer?
I expect I'm missing something, lol.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto ................... And, I always laugh when a seller actually uses the word "newbie" in their T&C's.... i.e....
"All Newbies please email me before bidding"
Think about it, if a newbie is a newbie, how the hell are they gonna know they are a newbie? ..... They're a newbie for heavens sake. :rolleyes:The MSE Dictionary

Easter and the time of goodwill to all men is over!!
Did the evil deed today claimed about 20 FVF's and left the same number of negatives. Will i have to close my account with the inevitable tit for tat responses driving me below 98%??
Had a good one yesterday received a cheque (month late) no stamp on envelope cost me £1.21 to receive it. Had already claimed my FVF and left negative. Needless to say the seller had left a negative along the lines of:- "Cheque cleared, we were done beware".
Sent it back with a little note, pointing out the error of his ways. Now wishing I had cashed it. The total cost to me was about 30p in listings plus £1.21 plus loads of time and hassle for a £4 cheque...............arghhhhhhhhhh0 -

Would you not accept that it is possibly your choice of goods that attracts Newbie NPB? ..... By that I don't mean they are crap... I mean that certain goods will attract a certain buyer, an example being the 256MB/512MB star spangled flashing MP3 player market.
Certain goods attract a certain buyer, and when I sell off the young lads PS2 games, or a cast off mobile phone from one of the family, I use a seperate account to my main selling ID to sell them because I just KNOW that I'll have problems. The MSE Dictionary

I have to say I was thinking along the same lines as Tojo. I can't even recall the last time I had to file an NPB, it must have been months ago.
I have bids from newbies and established users in equal parts with no real problems at all.

Everbodies experience of newbies seems to be profitable for them.
But me, its different.
Take yesterdays listings. I had 10 items up, and about 4 people who I have dealt with before had placed a maximum bid on most of the items between them.
This newbie came in and bid in increments of £1/£5 or £10, and made at least 7 bids (each)in all of about 8 out of 10 of my items. Bidding each item up and up and up and up.
For me......this is great....or is it ??
If someone looked over this guys bidding patterns, like I did. He hadn't bid on anything else but my items. He wasn't winning any listings and had bid up 8/10 of them.
To my other customers, it looked like shill bidding. Unless they complain to ebay, I can't prove that its not me.If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!
