Zero feedback bidder blues

What have I got to do, to get bidders with zero feedback contact me BEFORE bidding ??

I make it perfectly clear in the sellers terms and conditions that this must be the case and if anyone bids without contacting me first, I will cancel the bid.

Some numbty...has won 2 of my items before I could cancel the bids and block him/her bidding.

Now what ?? If I cancel now, they get to give me bad F/B even though they haven't complied with the auction terms.

Theres a point of principle here, newbies NEVER EVER read the full auction terms and conditions, then moan and complain after.

Look at all the bad feedback. Most has been left by or given to newbies.

Why are you trying to ban newbies?

As you say if one has won your auction you can't cancel now, so just be nice to them, give them the payment options and wait for payment like you would for any other buyer. If after 10 days or so you are still unpaid then file for FVFs.

I've had more problems with buyers whose feedback has been in the teens than with newbies.

Think you are being harsh Rob. OK newbies result in 99% of my non paying bidders but without them I would lose more than I gain.

Just send clear and concise instructions for payment. A better system is to make it paypal only and ban those without a paypal account. Lets newbies bid if they are serious.

I'm not trying to be harsh or even ban them.

You said it yourself, "newbies result in 99% of my non paying bidders".

And again, you can't send clear and concise instructions to newbies. They don't read. none of it. they see the price and jump in. Then everyone is expected to bend over backwards for them.

Appologies if I'm coming over a bit argumentative.
I'm angry with newbies who can't and don't read. aaaaaarrrrggghhhhhh !

    lol lol

All I want is for them to read my terms and conditions, then ask me a question through ebay.
At least then, I'll know they have read everything properly and understand what they are doing.

Is It too much to ask ??

    .

I didn't think anyone reads the whole advert anymore, not just newbies.

I just wish, as a seller, I could decide exactly who I do want to allow and who I do not - just like the chioce of Uk registered, those with strikes or those on a net negative.

If 'banning' newbies was an option, I would take it, even if it meant missing the occasional good sale. Of course, that will never happen because I suspect far too many sellers might choose that option...!!

Good luck with your payment OP :D

When did they win your auctions? Have you given them a chance to actually pay you?!

Hardly suprising when you see the never ending T+C's some sellers are including in their auctions these days. :D

Bidding ended tonight for some of my stuff. I have no choice but to wait and see if he's capable of writing his name on a cheque and sending it to me.

I'm not bothered by the fact a newbie has won the auction. He's now banned !! ha ! lets see him bid now !!! lol lol

It is becoming a matter of principle now....

My terms and conditions are simple and clear :

"Bidders with ZERO feedback to contact me via ask a question FIRST..BEFORE bidding , else bid WILL be cancelled. Payment required within 7 days, Good Luck and Happy Bidding !"

This is where I have the problem....and I have to admit......it's my problem.
I lose confidence in bidders when they don't read and adhere to this. I have no patience for waiting. I want the items in the post so I can move on. It preys on my mind a bit, will they won't they like it ? is it what they expected ? what they gonna do now ?? have they read what they have bid on and won ?...........and It doesn't go away till I get the +ve feedback.

With regular buyers, they just buy, pay straight away, then you send out all within a couple of days...all finished.

I got to that part, read a little more, nodded and backed quietly out of the room.

I understand what you are saying OP but the fact of the matter remains. Not all people read descriptions..its not just new bidders either. Ok so its not right, but hey ho, what can you do?

    Do you accept Paypal btw?

I know its an old cliche, but we all have to start somewhere. Evidently, you're really bothered about that fact though.

I think you should take a deep breath and chill out. At the end of the day, its gonna keep happening, so you might as well start accepting it.

When it does, get on the vent board and have a good ole' rant and rave! lol ;)

I was going to post that, if you look around you will see plenty of others getting a bit heated up about ebay, paypal and newbies etc etc

Mine wasn't meant as an angry rant !! I think the choice of icon sent it that way somewhat !!

All this time....I never knew there was a vent it board !!
