Hi Welsh
An early (ish) night was abandoned when I started reading your diary and got sucked in to reading the whole thing
You are so inspiring with your control over your money and getting yourself out there to meet people. I wish I was brave enough to make new friends. I could do with dedicating a bit more time to the few I have!
Good luck on your 100k challenge. Well done on your weightloss. I really need to start losing weight again. I haven't bothered for about 18 months since our wedding and now I feel a bit rubbish about it!
You have also reminded me I need to do a meal plan. I wanted a frugal november and we have a freezer full of food!!Orange Fairy

There really isn't a recipe as such for the cheese pie thing - its something my nan used to make to use up bits but its one of my favourites.
Boil a load of aging spuds until mashable. Start mashing them but only add a bit of marg or butter (no milk, it makes it too runny) and whilst mashing sling in a handful of diced raw onion (makes it nice and crunchy and it does cook enough to be edible), and a handful of grated cheese.
Spoon into individual oven proof dishes and artistically arrange a sliced tomato on the top and cover with the rest of the grated cheese.
Bung in the oven until nice and brown. Scoff by itself or if starving with baked beans!
Its proper comfort food and uses up stuff you usually have in.

Thanks for the recipe.
Hi, by the way. :hello:Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Hello everyone! Its always a surprise to me that anyone reads this drivel apart from me:) Hope you're feeling better Sparkles? Hello Orange! Long time no see! And Ani! Hope I don't bore you all rigid with my woffle!
Just back from the walk which turned out to be 5 miles (8km) - the poor little dog is shattered! Won't get a peep out of him all afternoon now (until its his teatime that is!).
Now up to 17.5km - in 3 days! No wonder I'm sleeping better:rotfl:
Went mad and spent 41p on a can of diet coke whilst out and had a custard cream but according to myfitnesspal I burnt over 600 cals in 3 hours or so walking so can afford a biscuit!
A nice sit down and maybe a bit of schoolw ork this afternoon and I'll probably watch a movie on BoxOffice later to keep myself occupied.0 -
Decided against the BoxOffice movie as there's one on the telly at 9pm that I haven't seen before - £3.49 saved.
Just thinking about whether I can get away without doing a big shop next weekend as its the last one before payday. So thought I'd do a quick list of main meals I can have using stuff thats already in ....
Sunday - 3 bean enchilladas
Monday - leek and potato soup (make 1 extra for the freezer)
Tuesday - curry and rice
Wednesday - quorn ham and potato croquettes and veg
Thursday - cheese and potato pie (presentation evening)
Friday - jacket potato and beans
Saturday - veg chilli
Sunday - quorn sausages and sweet potato wedges
Monday - veggie mince spag bol
Tuesday - chick pea curry
Wednesday - egg fried rice
Thursday - leek and potato soup (6th form open evening)
Friday - veg chilli
Not too repetitive I suppose and fairly nutritious.
I take packed lunches to work so need to buy some bread rolls and a bit fruit and something to put in the rolls next weekend and a little bit of veg for the chilli and some kidney beans. Will also need dog food, so might be able to get away with a spend of no more than a tenner.0 -
Quite pleased with myself - been for a run this morning and it went very well considering that I haven't been for what seems like ages.
With dog walking I'll probably be up to 7km today - not doing big walks with him today - he's only little and needs a rest day:)
Just had some lunch and hoovered and dusted the whole house and cleaned the bathroom after a bath involving a good defuzz, face scrub and hair wash. So everything (including me) is nice and clean.:D
Just going to settle down to do no more than 2 hours school work - its not essential stuff for now but will make my life much easier in the next few weeks when I won't have to do as much on the weekends.
Then a woofer walk to make the most of the sunshine before it goes dark again - seems to be by about 4.30 these days so need to get out and get some vitamin D made before its too late:rotfl:0 -
Well done on all your exercise Welsh. You are inspiring me to start planning what I will start doing soon!
It gets dark so early now! I hate leaving work when it is dark!!!Orange Fairy

I know the feeling - its sooo much harder to motivate yourself to do anything when its dark at 4.30pm.
Had a good two days at work, days have gone quickly and not too stressful. It won't last:rotfl:
Just a teeny bit of news - an old boyfriend has been emailing and generally being nice and suggested meeting up. Its years since I've seen him but we have kept in touch - not sure what to do, its been years since I went on a "date" and I can't remember what I'm supposed to do;)
We'll see how it unfolds.......0 -
Ooooohhhhh Welsh how interesting......I hope you keep us updated....I am incredibly nosey!!!
Good luck to either spending some time enjoying an old friends company or lettin something progress. At least it would be someone you know so that may make things a bit more comfortable and you can just have fun as a catch up!Orange Fairy

Oooh, how exciting! Don't stress about being on a date - just be yourself, no pretence or mask and then see how you find the other person and take it from there. I haven't been on a date for many years either so I think I would be pretty nervous too!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550
