    Of course, £250.

In my case companion voucher is not worth the money. I fly mainly alone on shorthaul and prefer to get as many miles as possible than companion voucher.

I'm going to use and "abuse" BMI card until it's alive.

Thanks folks, you've been great and I'm sure others have got a lot from this this thread. Now to do some serious focussed reading.

I applied for a bmi Plus Credit Card by mistake. Did not realise that it has annual fee. Application was approved. But I cancelled it before receiving the card. But they did send me a Diamond Club membership number.

I applied again for an ordinary BMI Credit Card, got accepted and the two cards are on its way.

Terms at their website say that 20,000 miles bonus is for new customers only.
Will I be considered as a new customer?

If I get the 20,000 mile bonus, will I have to buy anything more (apart from the the £250 qualifying spend) to use the 20,000 miles when booking a flight?
In other words, will a return flight be free as long as it is under 20,000 miles?

Now that BMI and BA are merging, will I still have 90 days to earn 20,000 miles bonus and convert to Avios?
    Thanks!

Hopefully. Originally people were applying/reapplying every couple of months and racking up huge number of miles. It was a joke. So the rule was changed so that you could only get the bonus once. Even if that's not the exact wording on the latest T+Cs, I would expect you to get them now since you didn't get them before.

They will still charge "taxes" which can actually mean more than just taxes as it usually means fuel surcharges and other odd fees.

For this reason, the scheme works best if you can accumulate more miles and buy a longer haul flight as for flights within Europe you can often pick up good deals off Easyjet/Ryan air etc.

Yep. For the time being, Diamond Club is being kept open for people with MBNA cards in the UK. But the situation could change.
