HELLLLLP!!! Best Air miles or Avios card

Hi peoples,

I am a frequent short haul flier, flying minimum twice a month around Europe. I have never used a credit card before but it is becoming far more frequent where hotels & car hire companies are insisting on it. Can anyone give me a definitive card I should get to optimise Air Miles or Avios? I am soooooo lost in sea of credit confusion.

Thanks in advance folks.

Love to know how, as a frequent short haul flyer, you book your flights without a card and how, up until today, you have always managed to check into hotels and rent cars without one.

No need for the sarcasm, I have always used a Business Visa Debit card.
  • Who do you normally fly with?

I try to fly BA/one world and collect Avios but as I see it, air miles are air miles and I may as well maximise on them.

Air miles are not all equal! You need to stick to one group. So your options are BMI, AMEX, BA or Avios.

OK, this is where I am getting lost in sea of credit cards! Who is best to go with? Who gives me the best return?

But you find hotels and car rental companies are refusing to accept it and now requesting a credit card? Odd.

Hi exel1966, I did have a look but not knowing anything about credit cards I'm still a little confused. There must be one card that is better than the others for what I want (maximum miles in the air in return for spending on that card)?

@ Ben8282, you really are a horrible person, the idea behind a public forum is; members of the public ask questions and helpful people respond with sensible advise. You know know nothing of me and I would be grateful if you didn't offer up any more pearls of your obvious limited wisdom of life. Either that or your boyfriend isn't "putting out" this week.
