  • I have these Halloween charts if they are any good to whoever was looking for Halloween ideas

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330791329187

    Emma
    Baby daughter born Jan 10
    Baby son born June 11
  • Lovely Christmas Cross stitch *Louise*.:)

I have also finally finished the Joyful Snowmen. Lots and lots of backstitching and then loads of french knots too.....
    JoyfulSnowmen1.jpg

Now I can get cracking on my Xmas cards.:T
  • Thanka Louise, wanted to make sure I get the right one
Love your Xmas stitch, wonder what made the designer do red shoes!

Does anyone get cross stitcher? Brought 2 issue and I love it think it might be my new mag from now on, in each issues patterns there is about 95% I like

    Maria
I get Cross Stitcher and on balance it is still my favourite of the XS magazines though I don't think many on here would agree.

Here is Emma's review of the lastest issue with my comments next to hers

My review of the latest Cross Stitcher for anyone that is interested:

    Free GIft -
Seems like a quick stitch (snowflakes) but probably won't use the Scandi style charts

Free gift = snowflake garland - like this. Free Gift 2 = Scandi Sytle Cross Stitch - really like the designs in this booklet and intend to stitch some of them. I like one colour designs and red on white is always a winner at Xmas

Fawn gadget cosy - not my style
    Mine neither

Nice new designs in the Anchor Autumn/Winter 2012 collection
Nothing leaps out at me but I'm not looking for baby/nursery themes

    Scandinavian Christmas
    - might be some useful elements
Really like this cushion and the stocking

    Snow silver & white sampler
    - quite like this and would probably not take too long to stitch
My favourite design in the magazine and has made it to my (very long) to do list. Think it would look stunning on some opalescent hand dyed fabric. Polstitches has lots of blues in her range........

    Canvas cross stitch
    - nice but can't sew so it would never make it to life as a cushion
Like this but it wouldn't suit my decor. Might be tempted to do a small version as a pincushion

    Retro alphabet -
    again, useful
Good for cards, personalised scissor fobs, coasters etc

    Sewing themed gifts
    - not sure but may be useful
Love these - I love making small stitchy themed items

    Monograms -
    useful alphabet
    I agree

    Neon snowflakes
    - like these
I like these but not as cards - think they would make super coasters (and if I appear to have an obsession with coasters I apologise but I like to make them both for myself and for quick and easy gifts which are less likely to be thrown away (always a risk with cards)

    Belle & Boo -
sure this will appeal to some but not me I'm afraid
Nor me although I do like the look of the next one in the series (little girt with dove)

    Vegetable images
    - !!!!!!!!
I suppose they could be used for the front of a recipe book but I'm not keen

    Retro tea set -
like the flowers but not the squirrels
It's OK but no more than that

    Leaf cushion
    - again not my thing
    Nor mine

Next issue is all Christmas. All in all another waste of £3.99. APologies if you don't all agree but this is just my opinion
And I love reading the opinion of others (even when I don't agree with them :D I am still a fan of the magazine (and have been since issue 1)

    Emma
I like the Amy Butler designed skins for phones, laptops and tablets (not stitched just part of the news on P13)
I also like the Magnolia and HummingBird kit in the Choices ad on P72

So I don't know if that is helpful Maria but ultimately it has to be your choice of which designs appeal most to you
  • Glad you agree with me mostly flowerofscotland

    Good Morning everyone :j

so I've asked my mum to try & find it on her holiday in America. Joann's should sell it and it should be cheaper than buying it over here. Forgot to tell her to buy some peanut butter M&Ms for me, too, so had to call her at her hotel (so glad we've Sky talk unlimited and USA calls are free!). If Ive got the time difference right, I think she'll be at a wedding in Maine right now. Soooo jealous!

Had a very busy week. Our little kitten is now almost 6 months old, so she was spayed and microchipped on Thursday. She's recovering well from it, but trying to get her not to race around the place at 100mph is tricky! She seems to think she's fine, but she's got internal stitches and one external one. Amazing what they can do with such a tiny animal. She's claimed one half of the sofa so poor DH is sitting on the floor. :p

Too bad your mum your mum wasn't near a Micheals (craft store) last week for labor day -they had dmc floss 3 for a $1 (which is approx 65p). If hubbys family were better I would of asked them to get me some - but hey ho. Also I hear Walmart have floss in store now eg 18 pack of variegated thread for $17. Micheals also do coupons online too to save more. As soon as hubby gets a job (got more rejections this week) we can save up and go back over but with the way his family are I feel they can just stay there.

Is it the purple peanut (dark chocolate) M&Ms you like? B&M shops have them in - 6 small bags for a £1.

Glad wee kitty is ok. Sam is well - she is now 2½ years old now. Haven't been able to afford her getting any more injections since the ones she had when she was a kitten. She has been sleeping alot - don't know if it is to do with the up and down weather.

Got my Christmas Stitch finished!! :j

It's the Faye Whittaker one from CSC - I changed it a smidge - made the little girls hair longer and straighter so it looks more like DD and I changed the shoes from red to blue (Red shoes with a blue and white dress? C'mon!) :rotfl:

I need to find a red frame to put it in now :)

    September2012047.jpg

Of the photos of your wee girl I have seen - I can so see the likeness. Talking of all our yesterdays I am taking part in a secret exchange (via FB). We have to do a AOY in coaster, bookmark, small item. I have choose a wee free kit from one of the mags (butterfly catcher) and going to order some butterfly aida to go with it. Donna at Cross Stitch Heaven has a 5x7 piece for 80p - so just have to think what else I need from there. (Chicky a good site to add to our list on page one).

Well I have a wee bit of chores to do and then I will get on with some stitching later.

    Keep well everyone

:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j
  • added while i remember sweetcarer.

I don't like peanut m&m's and get sood ispointed when they never bring out limited edition in the plain chocolate.
Has anyone near London been to the shop?? a work collegue said it's amazing.... it's on my trip list.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

back from the shops and pleased with my purchases. Got the new cookbook from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall - half price in Sainsbugs. Plus some shoes that fit and I like (half price) then trotted down to Smiths to browse Cross Stitch Collection (nothing of interest - left on the shelf) plus had a look at the two cross stitch xmas mags that have been advertised recently. Both are simply rehashes of xmas themed charts that have featured in cross stitch mags previously so I didn't waste my money (£4.99 (i think) and £7.99 respectively). Instead I bought the half price paperback (book of the week?) and got a jamie oliver cookbook at just £5 :T so a successful day at the shops. Also treated myself to some cute pjs and boring - trousers for work. (edited to add they don't fit - will have to take them back!)

I felt sorry for the bus driver on the way home. We had left the city centre and were about half way home when someone tried to get on the bus as it was pulling away from the bus stop. To get the driver's attention he ran along side the bus and banged on the window forcefully. Unfortunately as the person was so busy banging on the window he wasn't watching what his feet were doing and ended up tripping over the pavement and landing in the road. He was ok I think although looked winded. but he got on our bus and delighted in telling us all that his bottle of bubbly in his rucksack had survived.

Now home and to relax :D hopefully do some stitching this afternoon.
  • Fancy you lot moving home while I wasn't looking :rotfl: Thanks chicky for safely re-homing us all.

Firstly can I just say many many thanks for all your kind words and support you all posted (very much appreciated). Will have to catch up with the latter half of the weeks post later.

I think I mentioned that my neice asked me if I could stitch Pooh Bear for their daughters' nursery so I have managed to stitch one that was in one of my mags. As they only wanted Pooh I edited it to remove Piglet (I personally love Piglet) but it did make it a bit easier for inserting the text they wanted. I changed the colour of the butterfly to purple as this is the little one's fav colour and also did a purple mount (it does look purple in real life - honest). DH has done a great job of framing for me. I have let my s-i-law know it is ready and I think we are taking it to them tonight. Hope they all like it.

Thanks nmm for the offer of charts. I did mean to get back sooner but things have been a bit hectic.

I love the card you did for your daughter Louise and have taken note of it for future ref - thank you. Might just make it into a little keepsake card for parents/grandparents of the little one.

I has been a very tough week and I can't see this next week being much better as the funeral is not taking place until next Friday. Initial reports have said reason was septicemia but further reports could take anywhere up to 5 months.

    Oooohhh nearly forgot the piccy.

Lovely update pics everyone. I will try and read all posts properly during the week.
