I am more than 2/3rds though stitching my Elegant Lady, and ahem, have only just started on The Astronomer (nearly 2 years ago!!!)...I will post piccies once I find them and be shamed into getting something done...and soon!!!

    Helloooo stranger :D

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about them!! Surely the Lady can't be too far from completion? :)

Woudl love to see some pics of your brooches:T

Anyone planning on watching the Les Mis movie? Just been watching the movie special documentary on itv and it looks good :j

    CAN'T. WAIT.:j

Les Mis was the first Musical I ever saw when I was a teenager - I know every word to the whole show :o My mum and sis both want to go and see it so it will be happening asap once it's released :D

Spent this pm sorting my thread box out and putting it nicley into boxes like my Anchor pressie was :D Have ordered another set of DMC stickers (seem to have lost my leftover ones) so I can mark up blank bobbins for the missing ones and once my printer is plugged in and working I will print off the chart to tick off.

I hope your stickers are okay, I used them when I first put my threads onto bobbins and after about a year they lost their stickyness and started sliding off, so I rewrote the numbers with a sharpie.
That could just be on the plastic bobbins though, I imagine card ones would fare better?

 its all back to normality now - xmas break is over :(

not impressed as grrr woke up in the middle of the night and my left ear is all blocked up. :(

did not manage as much cross stitch as I thought I would over xmas break and annoyed with myself. Could have done LOADS. Did sort out a few projects for 2013 however. Not sure what first stitch will be. when looking for the emily peacock letters the other day, I found a chart I could download from the making spot which ties in with some designs in this month's (due out in shops this week) cross stitcher. Its a tortoise. Have about half the threads. Do i buy the rest or use what I have from my stash ???
  • Ergh it's dark... here we go again :(

    Time to book a holiday ;) x

Their website has some nice free patterns and downloads - I particularly like the wonky Christmas Tree and the Mod Coasters

Those coasters are fab! I may have to add them to my To Do list.

I can't find the wooden coaster blanks anywhere in the UK though....does anyone know where to get those style of coaster blanks?

Alternatively - Willow Fabrics has got the acrylic ones at £11 for 10 which seems like a good deal. (I was thinking of making a couple of sets of four as presents). I've not used the site before though - has anyone else?

I haven't seen the wooden coaster blanks anywhere in the UK and they would cost a fortune to ship from US. If I spot anything similar I will let you know, I've used Willow Fabrics lots of times and their price on the coasters is excellent though the Stitchtastic site which Chicky mentioned has 10 for £10. I've never bought anything from them though.

Would a photo frame with the coaster insert not be similar? I saw a woodworking course advertised locally maybe i should join :) I could make some and become a ebay millionaire :rotfl:

  • Thanks for the welcome - the first project to finish is Derwentwater Designs Sunsets range called low tide and also have safe haven. Thought I could do them both and give them to Mum and partner next Christmas.

I also have - in the same unfinished bag - Janlynn's Daisy Girl. Those are my projects for 2013 :-)

These are all lovely designs. The pair of Sunsets designs would make a beautiful gift. Looking forward to seeing progress photos :D
  • I'm sure it has got darker rather than lighter since I've been in work today.

Anyway just on a break so catching up.

I finally managed to take some photos on NYE so better late than never here is the wonderful gingerbread cottage sewing box I got for Xmas

I also got this lovely lily of the valley needleminder - it is mounted on a magnet and comes with another magnet so you can attach it to your fabric

I finally finished Christmas Cheer taking my total of UFOs completed in 2012 to 6 :j I was supposed to finish this piece for 12 12 12 and then for 20 12 2012 but in the end it took me to 24 12 12 to complete it. The original pattern has lots of specialty stitches in the background but I decided I couldn't cope with these on dark fabric in artificial light so I scattered seed beads over the background and am very pleased with the effect and think I probably like it better than if I had done the stitching.

I've made good progress on the first UFO of 2013 (Cleaning the House) and expect to complete it on 3.1.13 (thanks Louise for mentioning this date :D). I've also been working on Stitcher's 12 Days. Although I started it on 10 11 12 I didn't sort all the threads as I only need a few for the first part. I've now sorted them all onto a thread sorter, am using my Pako needle minder and have marked out the pattern in months so I can track my progress.

Don't know what has happened to sewandso - their site is still showing a Christmas Shop section and no sign of a sale.

Is anyone making any stitching resolutions for the new year? (much more interesting that the usual diet, giving up smoking, exercise more etc :D )

    Hi ladies.

My hubby went back to work today so I'm feeling a little bit lost after having him here for nearly 3 weeks :(
I have taken the tree and decs down this morning so the house is looking as lost as I feel.

Keiss. Nice to see you again. What sort of brooches have you made? Stitched ones? Look forward to more updates of the Elegant Lady :)

Caroline. I hope you feel better soon.

Couldsavemore. I am still learning things all the time, I love it! :D You can guarantee if you have a problem or query someone on here can help.

FOS. Love the Gingerbread Cottage sewing box. The needleminder is beautiful, love it. Christmas Cheer is great!
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
