It doesn't necessarily void your warranty. Many phones can be reverted to stock in a way that removes all evidence of dicking around.

As is it does void waranty .
Yes it can be easy to remove root .
But for the unwary some phones have a hidden custom rom counter and also report the phone as modified in the about settings .

For some thats easy peasy twice a day job but for the average user its a big no no . Finding how to reset rom counter and finding original/stock rom and flashing that to the phone is easy but may be a step to far for many .

I can understand the dislike of the HTC. What a bunch of kn0bs. Their new phones are fast, take superb photos, but, no support for extra storage. Basically what it comes built-in with, is what you have.

I made the mistake of 'upgrading' from a Samsung Galaxy Portal to a HTC One S. Within 2 hours, I decided it was pants and obtained an unlock code. Once I have a replacement Micro-Sim for it and an adapter to use the Micro-SIM currently in it on my old Portal, it will be up on fleabay. I mean, you can't even get it to display your own mobile number. How stupid is that ?.

I went off HTC mobiles for similar reasons but also the non changeable battery- I don't get it, they make batteries which are not fit for purpose (seriously, batteries worsen with time and use, after 24 months you can only imagine) and at the same time your given a battery which at first, just about covers you for the one day. The bad reports on customer service were the final nail...I love the way they work (called HTC sense?) but there are too many draw backs, maybe another few years before I'd consider then seriously again.

I am thinking about the Sony handsets though, the Tipo being slow is a bit of an issue for me because I am inpatient, but the battery is said to work for a few days using wifi so its a strong contender from where I'm standing.

Not a fan of the G300 and voiding the warrenty on other handets isn't really something I'd feel confident doing with other handsets.
If I had more money then sense I'd go for the IP5 or Samsung S3 but its unlikely that will ever happen, unless I obtain the winning lottery ticket.
