Not sure where to post this, such a big forum !
I want a minimum cost new(new retail) car
It should ideally be a hatchback (for carrying stuff), have 4 wheels, (1 on each corner !), and an engine!! Seats, 1 or 2 people.
I dont want any J.Clarkson gofaster stripes, nor CD players or air condx, no frills.
Just a car that can get me to the local shops and serve as a spare if the primary car goes legs up !
So far I see the Nissan Pixo and Kia Picanto,
anything else ?
Included _upfront_ costed MOT/servicing longterm deal/guarantee would be a consideration.
thanks.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.0 -
If you dont want all the modern comforts a new car brings why would you want a new car?
Nissan Pixo was the cheapest, But its has lots of the things you dont want.
Chev Spark
Citroen C1
Fiat Panda
Hyund i10
Kia Picanto
Perodua Myvi
Proton Savvy
Smart
Suzuki Alto
Toyota Aygo
VW Fox
And probably lots more. But i reckon your ideal car is a Rover 100 or Rover Metro.
be wary of MOT for life etc etc. My parents got caught out on that. The garage changed names. Same staff. Just the name on the door. Sorry the MOT for life offer is no longer valid.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I ref hon gent to statement earlier, No JC pleasures, rear entrance, 4 wheels and an engine is all
(and I already have a Metro which is quivvering in terror everytime it reads this
oh! and a Volvo 960 but they dont share the same bed)
and PS Thanks for the list, most helpful.0 -
Citroen Nemo Van, also available with Peugeot or Fiat badges.
Can be bought as a 2 seater van or 4/5 seater mini mpv with rear side windows, cheaper as a van and VAT reclaimable if you are registered.
If you don't mind spending £11k then Dacia Duster represents real no frills transport (manual windows etc, no standard radio) but with some space and comfort, i'm going to be watching see how they fare.0 -
"J.Clarkson go faster stripes"?
Have you ever actually watched Top Gear?0 -

I think you should be posting either in the millionaire or royalty forums.
A couple of footmen and a Hansom cab once or twice a week would probably be cheaper.0 -
I'll give you serious suggestion.
1997 BMW 323i.
It's much more comfortable, reliable and better built.
Ok; it 'only' does 30mpg instead of 45-odd; and might cost a bob or two more to ensure (in my case, £300/yr; and I'm only 26) but the car itself only costs £800 instead of £6000.
Engine will last at least 200,000 miles with the same service interval.0
