Another good chew is the Stagbar - deer antler, quite tough. It seems to be the Marmite of the dog world though, love it or hate it (or at least, pretty disinterested). My dogs aren't too fussed, they have a bit of a chew of it every now and then, but my mum's puppy went nuts over the one I bought her and demolished it within weeks. A foster doggy I had for a while loved the one I gave her too. I've seen some that are split down the middle too so a bit less of a challenge, might be a bit better for a puppy.

I get the poo bags at 99p store, 250 bags for 99 p.

Lucky you Coin getting those for free.. sigh....

Some rope kind of toy to play tug games with - poundlands always got them.
  • I get the Sainsburys Basics nappy bags - I think they're now 12p for 100 (I'm so cheap I got loads of packs when they had their half-price baby event last year and were 4p!).

I bought a toy set from Poundland that included a rope toy, but my dog just likes ripping the threads out the end so I took it off him as they were coming out easily and he was eating them.

The only toys he really likes are his birds and squirrels that came from these sets (his Christmas & birthday presents!)

He loves getting them out of their houses and then carrying them around, although the houses have now been confiscated as he's started trying to rip them apart.

As an anti-recommendation, I'd avoid getting a retractable lead. My in-laws bought my dog one when he went to stay with them fairly soon after we'd got him and then we carried on using it. I don't think it did anything for his behaviour and willingness to walk nicely and not want to get ahead, so we've now ditched that (well, one of their dogs chewed it and it didn't get replaced) and went back to basics on a standard short lead and using the 'heel' command.

I could nto live without my flexi lead TBH - gives Zara a bit of freedom to run but can pull her back when she gets in a mood to eat another dog ;)

I'm not plannin on getting a retractable, a little girl I know had her neck sliced open by one :( both her and puppy ran to their daddy, she got caught in it and it slit her neck, I know that is a rare case but the sight of her cut and scar has put me off :(

May get a long line to practice recall but will only use in wide open areas with no children around.

Must have been the stupid, thin one that people use for small dogs - hate those so much and stupid peopke using them in a way that tangles around MY legs or Zara's legs when they walk the dog and dog runs over to us.

    This type:

Hate them with passion and feel they are so dangerous they should be banned.

Zara's one is thick tape type.

Not sure what type it was, the dog was a gsd and the little girl was only two at the time luckily her scars are fading.

GR, where did you get the all tape extending lead from? I've been looking for one for ages.

Another vote for the Dog Games perfect fit harness, they can be put on without lifting legs and you can change the bits separately as they get outgrown or chewed.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!
