Hi, The LoansDirect website is now promising no fees taken on the day you sign up, and yet that is exactly what they do. Is there anyway to post a html file here as I saved the website?0

Loans Direct UK.
I give my card details thinking they were a direct lender when i realised they weren't i canceled my membership and withdrew my authorisation to debit my card by there contact e-mail. On Monday morning when the phone lines were open again I called them to make sure this would happen as they haven't debited my card yet. I was told that I would have to write to them and that a manager would call me to discuss this. I asked them what was there to discuss as I was cancelling my membership and my authority to debit my card. I spoke to a man [personal details removed by MSE Forum Team] on 0844 309 1936 who assured me the money wouldn't go out.0 -

Get the refund by following the process in the T&C's, not sure what made you think they were a lender, whats wrong with the traditional lenders eg the banks or other reputable lenders.0 -

I fell for the same thing. I applied for an actual loan and was advised along the lines of the fact there was a loan accepted in principle and I had to pay a one off fee for them to get it. It even stated what I would be repaying each month from this loan. Low & behold once I paid it it was a portal with lots of payuday loan lenders and other companies which I was expected to apply to myself. I didn't want this payday loan brokerage service so wrote a letter - no response. See second letter below.
To whom it may concern.
I am writing my second letter today to request that all monies taken from my account, despite my initial letter dated 29.05.13 advising not to, are returned to me without delay. I am in financial difficulty and need this request to be expedited.
In my initial letter I advised that I have not, will not and never intended to use your brokerage service, which you insist on calling a “membership service”. The landing page of your website is misleading in as much as it gave me a quote, repayment plan figures and, I paraphrase, “all you need to do to get your loan is enter your card details to get your loan”. In fact this was not all that I needed to do and these cards details have now been used to deduct money from my account when there is no loan arranged: in principle or otherwise.
I have spoken to one of your employees, Sasha, yesterday and although she was no real help at all she was friendly and efficient. She has advised that there is no record of a letter being received by you in relation to this account. I am sending this letter as recorded delivery and shall expect the price of the previous letter, 60p, to be refunded to me at the same time as my other £69.75, as per your terms and conditions.
I must also take issue with the fact that you refunds department is not online or on the phone. As I mistakenly signed up to this service online I should be able to cancel this in the same manner. Being unable to do this suggests to me that your business practises are questionable and are designed to make it as difficult as possible for unwitting “customers” , most of whom were probably also duped by your deceptive website, to get their funds returned to them.
I trust that there will be no further delay in receiving my refund as I have an energy bill for £59 which is now overdue and will be unpaid until I receive this.
You have numerous contact details for me and, unless otherwise instructed, I will assume that this full refund will be processed and in my bank account within 7 working days of the date of receipt of this letter. Any further undue delay in this being processed will result in me taking my concerns to the OFT, trading standards and the FSA. I hope it does not come to this.
Yours Sincerely.
Fingers crossed.0 -
At least you have now done what myself and others have recommended all along - write to claim a refund by recorded delivery.
I have no doubt that you will get your refund, but it will probably take up to four weeks. The important thing is not to let them get away with it.
Let us know when your refund comes."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Are you writing within 14 days of agreeing to their terms & conditions? And what exactly did your letter of 29/05 say and can you prove they received it or that you even sent it at all(I assume that one wasn't sent recorded)?0 -
You might also want to cut out most of your review of their business model and your energy bills and just clearly ask for the refund - amount, date taken and reason for a refund.
At present, it's getting lost amongst the ramblings and would give them more of an excuse to bin it.0 -
I agree, far too much waffle. Short and to the point. When they ignore it, off to the fos0
-
Hi all.
I have had confirmation that they have received my letter and that an "account manager will call me shortly".
I understand what you are saying about cutting out the waffle but I was really angry that they didn't acknowledge receipt of my original letter.
I am still within the 14 days (that 14th day being Sunday 9th) so it will be interesting to see what, if any, excuse they will use to try and reduce the amount of my refund.
I will let you know.0
