Hi johnnyboyrebel
Thanks for your reply.
I can't post a link to the advert since it will only appear once a week in the paper - on a Thursday.
So can you explain something to me? You mentioned an 'advert in the paper' which can be clicked on so I assumed it was online somewhere too. Noone else seemed to question this so what did you mean or am I missing something? What are people clicking?0 -
Hi johnnyboyrebel
I have followed your instructions as above, but when I click programs after clicking internet options, there are 4 boxes with subheadings - Default web browser, manage add ons, HTML editing, internet programs.
Can you please advice what I need to do from there?
Thank U.0 -

internet programs I think (I use a mac so can't see the options!)0 -
Actually, the above will only work for IE 5 and earlier. It seems to do this on IE 9 (the latest version which you probably have) it is more complicated.
I am up to my ears in html at the minute so will post later or tomorrow after haveing a look (unless someone else answers first)0 -
Couple of things to try:
Download Yahoo! Toolbar from http://toolbar.yahoo.com and install it. During installation you will be asked if you want to make yahoo mail your default email. Once you've done this then Yahoo will pop up any time you click a 'mailto:' link (email link)
Of course noone really wants to install any toolbar so my advice would be to get firefox http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/.0 -
Ok, now we've established your email program we can come up with a solution to your problem.
To me, it sounds like you just want to test if your link is working? If this is the case then I would setup your email in Windows Mail. On the other hand, if you want a permanent solution then you need to follow Johnny's advice and install the Yahoo toolbar.
It's also worth noting that your link will be working for other people who have configured their mail client.
For windows mail, follow instructions here
http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content&y=PROD_MAIL_CLASSIC&locale=en_US&id=SLN3219&pir=GXG0GMpibUlZe6ipTQ7CSFQ38PdVJvWWcPhdz9mM8VP44wWX5EXLl04_P0eZwNOiIpKQm_YM_kolsxd.fo.nI_BS2oLF7Q--
For yahoo toolbar, follow instructions here
http://help.yahoo.com/l/uk/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/settings/settings-10.html
Of course we don't know what Windows version you are using so the above instructions may not be exact, but the process is similar for XP/Vista/W7. Post back if you get stuck
Personally I would always avoid installing these sort of toolbars, especially the yahoo one, it's awful!0 -
It's also worth noting that your link will be working for other people who have configured their mail client.
With so many people using webmail these days, it makes you wonder just how many potential customers could be lost because they don't understand these error messages when the user's email client hasn't been set up.
Mailto: links are also one of the many ways spammers reap email addressesHow do I add a signature?0 -
Hi
I am trying to download the yahoo toolbar, and I am having problems even with that!!
When I click the download button, a box appears saying Yahoo Tool bar set up.
Underneath it says Installing Yahoo toobar, and there is a bar underneath a fraction of which is coloured green.
On top of that box is another smaller box saying Firefox toobar is up to date. When I click ok on this smaller box, both boxes disappear from the screen. So, I have no way of telling whether or not the yahoo toolbar has been set up.
Please advice.0 -
I think that link I give might have been for IE only. If you're using Firefox try this one
http://uk.toolbar.yahoo.com/
You'll know if it has been installed because you'll see the yahoo toolbar in your browser. Probably underneath the address bar somewhere. You could also check by following the steps in the second link, the bit below where it says
Here’s how to set your PC to open Yahoo! Mail when you click an email link on a webpage.0 -
Why would you want the Yahoo toolbar anyway? It's just more browser clutter. No free lunch, and no free laptop
