How can I get my emails to work properly?

Hi folks
I recently placed an advert inthe paper for my small business, and when someone clicks on the advert, itshould bring up a box where readers can email me for more information.
However, I have tried this out myself, and when I click on the advert, a box appears on the screen, and on top of thebox it says ‘enter your user name and pass word for the following server’. Underneath, in the same box, there is a subheading saying
Server:smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk. Underneath in thesame box, the user name heading appears and my first name automatically is filledin there with a password. (about half a dozen asterisks).
No matter how many times I pressthe ok button in that box, the box reappears and does not go away. While all this is happening, there appears a largerbox in the background which would enable readers to email me there queries formore information etc.
So, at the moment, I am totallyconfused with why this is happening. More importantly, does that mean I would not be able to accept emailsfrom readers?
By the way, my inbox does except ‘normal’emails from other users.
Thanks in advance for your response.

Sounds like it's trying to open your default windows email program and the error coming up is because it isn't configured correctly.
To get further help you would have to post what email program you use.
Who set the website up?0 -
The problem is with your browser and email program, not the link in the website. You should experience the same problem if you click on any other links eg this one (dummy)A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

What do you do when you want to read emails? Do you click a desktop icon eg windows mail or ms outlook or open your web browser and go to gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc ?0

Hi Folks
Thanks for your replies.
moneyuser - I open my browser and when I want to read or send emails I go to yahoo.co.uk

That's why you are seeing the error. The link is trying to open a mail client on your PC (e.g. Windows Mail / Thunderbird / Outlook) but as you use webmail (i.e. the Yahoo website) you don't have the mail client set up.How do I add a signature?0

That's why you are seeing the error. The link is trying to open a mail client on your PC (e.g. Windows Mail / Thunderbird / Outlook) but as you use webmail (i.e. the Yahoo website) you don't have the mail client set up.
If this is the case, you need to set Yahoo Mail as your default mail client so whenever you click on any email link it will open in Yahoo.
Assuming you are using Windows and Internet Explorer to do this:
1. Log on as Administrator (your own account will probably be admin anyway)
2. Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, select Internet Options. Click Programs tab and select your email client from the drop-down list. Once selected, click OK/Apply button.
It doesn't sound like a problem with the link as that would most likely just give an error, not a login prompt.
Why not post a link to this ad here and we will try.0 -

Hi johnnyboyrebel
Thanks for your reply.
I can't post a link to the advert since it will only appear once a week in the paper - on a Thursday.0
