So presumably you are moving to PAYG and not looking to take out a new contract with another provider, since you're apparently content to trash your credit rating for no good reason? No free lunch, and no free laptop

I asked a simple question, gave my side of the story, replied honestly to your questions and have been polite with it. But just because I have MY own opinion on MY credit rating and your answers (that haven't told me something I don't really know) you decide to have a go at me.
Now I'm not saying I'm not grateful for the help (as backed up by the many times I've said thanks), but If I wanted advice on credit ratings and direct debits I would have posted a message in the correct forum. I was merely hoping that someone may be experiencing the same problem/s as me and would have a solution or/and could share their experiences.
Surely the whole point of a forum, where discussion and problem solving takes place, is to share experiences and maybe reach a common solution. Instead I've been given "stab in the dark" ideas, answers for something I didn't ask and I now appear to be being ganged up on...
I think this has run it's course now, don't you?0 -
What you call 'ganging up' is simply a majority of posters not sharing your opinion. A rather different thing.
Yes, threads do often veer off-topic, but that's what you get in a public forum. No free lunch, and no free laptop

In your OP you have not made it clear that you didn't care about your credit history, that isn't very common....If I wanted advice on credit ratings and direct debits I would have posted a message in the correct forum.
Many people that do care about their credit history cancel or consider cancelling a DD without understanding the consequences. Are you suggesting to wait until they have the credit file(s) trashed and come back here (or to the correct forum) asking how to rectify this?0
