I've just put the heating on, the house is freezing and I couldn't last another 2 hours until we go out!
I've got to the point with one grandparent where biscuits and cakes are what he likes for his birthday and christmas so home made might not be a bad idea!
Good luck with your £10 until Friday!0 -
Yeah I've caved in tonight and put the heating on. Had a crappy day with the weather and thought sod it! Conservatory was leaking ( now sorted, thankfully we used a very good builder who came straight round ) took 40 minutes to travel half a mile to work before turning round and coming home for a bit before attempting the drive again so when we got in tonight I thought sod it, I want to be warm!!
Have eventually sent off the form to santander to up the mortgage so at least thats something positive for the day!
Made a lovely chicken and mushroom risotto from the hairy bikers new diet cook book for dinner tonight, though hubby did have to dash to the shop in the rain for a couple of onions as I'd ran out, blooming 25p each! Highly recommend this recipe though if anyone is watching their waist lineSo spent 50p of my £10 budget so far, not bad! Got leftover risotto for the both of us for lunch tomorrow and made another big batch of chicken soup last night which should do lunch for us both Thursday and Friday so at least no money on lunches again. Think I might brave the supermarket tomorrow night as long as this rain eases off a bit, probably going to end up getting a few bits and pieces in then still have to do a "big shop" on saturday.
Hubby is sitting with his tub of brownies and biscuits next to him slowly working his way through it while I'm sitting here giving him evils. Did I mention he's one of these lucky so and so's able to eat whatever he likes without gaining weight

I didn't eat a brownie, but did have half a twinks hobnob
Need to stop scoffing biccies though, haven't put on any weight but also haven't lost anymore and really need to get my backside in to gear and get this weight shifted!!
Had some good news this morning, hubby has had his pay review (finally!) and it's a little more than expected and is being backdated so we'll have a little extra cash each month from now onAny pay increase at all in this climate is a blessing so although it's not much in the grand scheme of things it's always nice to have a few more pounds coming in :money:

Well I managed it, shopping tonight came to £9.12 :j:j:j
So total food shopping this week has been £9.62, so happy I kept it under £10 and I know I won't need to spend any more money until pay day as I've got my meals planned out up until Saturday and have everything in I need to make them. Means our total food/toiletries spends this month have been £162.83, the previous month was £222.26 so goes to show how much money you can save by meal planning and making things stretch! We've ate so much better this month as well, everythings been home made and healthy ( apart from the biscuits and cakes but we'll skip over that) and it means I've been able to overpay on the mortgage.
I know I'll not be able to do this every month as alot has been down to getting alot of money off vouchers this month, but I definitely don't think we'll go near the budgeted £260 I put aside now.
So upshot of all this is I have £31.02 left over from this months pay which is going straight into the overpayments pot :T:T

Great news on the payrise! It all helps
Well done for keeping your shop under £10. When you are on a strict budget I find it easier to be really strict and only buy essentials.
Very well done for the overpay amount!0 -
Yeah I'm really getting good with lists, even looked online beforehand and worked out the price of each thing so I knew how much it would come to before we went

Morning all
It's pay day :j So been doing my money shuffle this morning and transferring money to my various little pots
Going to ring Sainsburys today to tell them I'm going to be making another overpayment, going to OP that loan by £250 this month which means any mortgage OP's will just have to come from any savings I make on things this month.
Done a meal plan last night for the next 9 days and an online order for Mr A. Haven't used them in a long time as I didn't have that great an experience with them in the past but my sister recons they're better now so going to give them another go. They are a fair bit cheaper than others ( went through my supermarket to check ) so might save us a bit money if they're ok. First shops come to around £50 though but £7.50 of this was on a big box of washing powder which obviously I won't be buying every week, but already I have a feeling this months shopping is going to be significantly more than my last months

Aww came into work and a colleague has bought me a box of chocolates as a thank you for helping him out yesterday giving him a lift to the hospital ( bit of an emergency panic situation! ). Not at all expected but it's made my day!
Rang to inform my loan company I'm overpaying again this month and will be monthly so he's made a note so at least I don't have to ring up every month but I got the loan balance wrongThink the person I spoke to previously must have been confused or something. But never mind, just means I've got to find a few more pennies a month now to overpay!
Need to ring Santander to confirm they got my overpayment yesterday as well but will have to do that later.
Thanks HelenDaveKids, hope you enjoy the harvest festivalYup I love transferring money to my various little pots, it's the first thing I do when we get paid!
