... they should look after existing customers first.
Oh dear. Unfortunately thats how insurance companies (and TV/Internet/phoneline comps) work. Get new customers in at a low price, and hope they're too busy come renewal time to check.
I can't imagine that anyone has ever had a renewal quote that is cheaper than a quote for same comp if they were a new customer.
Just read Martin's guide0 -
The whole point of this thread was to see what people do different not just a guide to read, all be it, its very helpful I was just wondering some of the clever ways people have got it cheaper that aren't so widely known, or can't be found in any internet guide, that's all.0

If it's not widely known or not on the Internet somewhere then it's probably fraudScience adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Obvious point but one I didn't twig till this year - reduce the insured value of your car each year!
I phoned to haggle on ours. They said "Is the car still worth £x?" It was the amount we had insured it for when we first got it three years earlier (I've stayed with the same insurer since, getting them to price-match other quotes each year). The replacement cost had dropped by two-thirds since then. Reduced that and the premium instantly dropped. Sadly not by two-thirds, but still.0 -

Good tip! As you said, an obvious point but I've never really thought about that either, used cars probably aren't worth what you pay even when you first buy them, so they certainly aren't going to be worth the same in a year, 2 years time, thanks! :cool:0
