Thanks! I just had a lesson with a new student who wants to pay by the half term so I've got to go and sort out the invoice now. Good start to the term!NoOneAround wrote: »I still havenot tried ebay to sell things ...must make time to work it out.

Oh, it's dead easy, and branded stuff goes for a mint. But you do have to be prepared to be inventive with packaging and schlepp it down to the post office to post the stuff off.
Bid no.2 has come in for the boots - they are up to £13.35 now. 4 hours to go

It's all kicking off now - another new student. After the small glut of July leavers, I'm back to being fully booked again. In talks with daughter about taking a few days off during the week (daytime) and working longer evenings, as my earning times are evenings, not daytimes, and she's no longer in school so there's bog all point in working 9-6 to co-ordinate with a school day any more ....

That's the end of teaching for the week
I may get some BACS payments through but no more cash. Tax fund is up to £84; it's lovely to see it rising steadily (£2.97 per week plus 16% gross earnings)

Busy week ahead
money is starting to come in properly now which is great. Some students are paying in blocks so I've already had a couple of 3 payments, plus the usual half hours paid in cash. Still a few more to come in though.
This half term is a long one (8 weeks) so that'll give me a solid chance to build my cash flow back up after the summer hiccup.
The only downside at the moment is I think I'm getting my daubhter's cold, and I've got a massively busy day today. Meh.
I've had four new students come through last week, so my slightly poorly timetable and projected income are looking much healthier again. And what's lovely is that it's all recommendation; I've got a small web presence and a free as on a music teachers website, but 90% of my new enquiries come through recommendations. Ah I remember the old days when I was starting out and I was posting adverts everywhere!

Oh, and after having to start my tax fund again after NI bill wiped it out, I'm now back up to £134. It's not enough to pay Jamuary Self Assessment yet, but at least I'm on the right track. And it's constantly going up by increments.
At the moment, becasue my current account is back in overdraft, I'm withdrawing money from the business account as soon as it goes in, but I'm aiming to get to the point where I'm only withdrawing once a week again, or once a fortnight.

There are lots of music teachers who advertise, but the good ones don't need to .....sounds like you are one of them.....:T
We were with my daughter's recorder teacher and her singing teacher for 11 years and carried on having lessons even after she didn't need to - just to stay in touch.
