  • For the first time in more years than I care to remember, I have some savings being built up....

I have £30 in my co-op e-save (that's a tiny fraction of what I need in there as it's my "yearly spends" account, but I'm adding a bit each month, and I'll get there)

But more to the point, I've been squirreling away 7.06% of my earnings into an ISA ready for January 2014, and I already have £185.69 after a month. :D

The temptation to take it out and chuck it at the barclaycard is almost unbearable, but I'm sticking with the savings as I need the money available for bills (especially that tax bill), so I'll stay strong!

I still don't know how much I'll be able to pay off the credit card this month, but I just got paid over £100 from a student who has requested that I now bill her once a month for lessons (two family members) and she'll transfer the money via BACS It makes it an extra mini payday, quite nice really!

I'm only up late to keep an eye on the video uploads my student's OH is throwing at my youtube account after today's recording sessions. Some of them were outtakes and not meant to be uploaded and have some bad language when I make mistakes! Oops :o

  • I haven't earnt that much! My maths wasn't off, but my dates were - my squirreling has been going on for just over a month, which means it covered 2 big PAYE paydays :o

  • Just took bunny to the vet for her geriatric checkup :0 she nearly had his fingers  little swine....

She's put on weight :) and is looking pretty good for her 9 years :)

  • It's a bit early, but I got all overexcited and paid an extra £300 off the barclaycard this month :)

And...... I also threw £50 at the 'savings' account (for my yearly spends) so that's a total of £80 that has gone into there this month, and when I include the cash that's gone into the tax bill ISA as well, I do believe I'm a little bit proud of myself :)

  • Well done on your progress Chopin - are you going to update your signature?

    Thank you Fortune :)

I'm getting tempted, I think. It looks terrible as I paid for the car on the credit card (I know, I know, but we were getting desperate, my daughter was getting in late (and stressed, and getting a b*ollocking for lateness too) for school every day because of the awful buses, and she has exams constantly now)
I also put the insurance on the credit card as their fees for monthly DD were so massive it actually works out cheaper....

So really the only reason I haven't done it is I can't be bothered to deal with coming on here and getting people having a go because it all looks worse.....

    Ah stuff it.
    I'll update it.

  • Signature has been updated. It looks horrendous. But things are improving, and there was good reasons why I had to go and spend money on a car, so :p

  • Rather bizarrely, having just spent today talking about the savings account, I need to dip into it....
My daughter needs new headphones for school (music GCSE), as hers broke.... That comes under "school equipment" so can come out of the savings account.
    No Barclaycard purchase :)
    Happy bunny :)

You don't have to worry about any of us Chopin. I'm a long way from perfect! Only you can know the best decisions for you. I use my diary to put down the truth, the embarrassing truth and the can't run away and hide from it truth. That helps me to make adjustments as necessary and (sometimes) stop kidding myself. Your diary is for you to use in the way you find most helpful. Everyone here will be rooting for you.

  • Thanks for that, Fortune, I appreciate it. Can you post a link to your diary?
I'd love to have a mooch through.....
