Got a disco link from OH http://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/
DJ's on there may not be the cheapest, but they are professionals. They will have public liability insurance and PAT tested equipment. It's worth paying a little more for a decent DJ as the music will really make your wedding night, and the DJ will make sure everyone has a good time.
OH has also offered a 10% discount to MSE'ers who book his servicesHere I go again on my own....0 -
Cool - we are going to go through the live band idea I think. That is hugley pricey - will cost about £1000. Yikes.
Anyone got any rhyming ideas?:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0 -

is anyone a budding poet? we are thinking of asking our guests to include three songs they would like to hear and get the dj or band to play them. I was hoping to ask using a rhyme but all I can come up with is this
when you rsvp to this invite
we would love for you to write
three songs you would like to hear
...........???????
I thought this would be a good money saving idea instead of a DJ or to make a compilation cd of these songs to play whilst the band are resting.

dear all,
i've seen a post somewhere on here re: drying rose petals for confetti/ sprinkling on tables. i am currently in my mother in law to be's conservatory and we've got a huge amount of potentially dryable roses in her garden. the only problem is... i've searched and can't find the tip. does anyone know how to dry petals (there's some oven action involved)? would love a quick reply as hoping to do it today. thanks:A0 -
My favourite saves to date include drying my own rose petals for confetti, etc. Luckily we have seven free flowering mature rose bushes of the right colour. You spilt the flower into petals on a baking tray then keep them out of sunlight, stir them about with your hands once day for a week till they are all dry. Dark colours work best. Scent remains but the petals shrink by half. Makes the kitchen smell nice too.
This from Hex - I found it when I searched the thread - I couldn't work out how to post a link to her message so I just copied and pasted.:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0 -
My wedding tips:
Cake:
I used Choccywoccydoodah (funny name huh!) They are based in London and Brighton and do the most wonderful cakes you have ever seen, and for celbrities too, I read in the Sun that Jordan and Peter Andre used them to make their 6ft cake, plus many more respectable people use them too. Their bespoke cakes are wonderful, they can make anything and is all made out of chocolate, however they are pricey. We went for the house style cake which is still fab, we got lots of comments, it was huge and we had 3 tiers that were free standing as they were completely solid. Milk, dark and white chocolate, belgian cream choc centre, mmmm. It only cost £150 to feed 130 people, and I have to say it would have fed at least 200 coz everyone got a decent piece and we still have a whole draw in our freezer full of the cake, this is 3 months later!

Invites:
Made them with my friends, was fun and cost so much less. Bought stuff from ebay and hobbycraft.
Honeymoon:
Used: http://www.quovadistravel.co.uk/
They were excellent, sorted it all out through email and over the phone. They managed to knock £1,200 off my best quotes. We went to america for 3 weeks - was brill!
Favours:
For the adults they were miniature alcohol bottles such as wine, whisky, vodka etc. I bought them over 6months, whenever they had offers on them in the supermarkets I would buy them. I put the bottles in a little basket and let the guests choose for themselves. For the kids I made up little bags for them and bought some toys and things, like under 99p things such as colouring books and pencils, even electronic games and things in pound stores, sweets etc.
Toptable;
One of the things we had that I think is a really ncie idea and looks stunning, i found the idea in a magazine. Get a clear vase, and a load of pearls (fake or whatever) and fill the vase with pearls to about 2/3 full, then place a single calalily(or similar) in the centre of the vase/pearls. It looks so lovely.
Accessories:
I got my tiara from ebay, it was a beautiful silver tiara with butterflies with amethyst wings, only £12. My shoes were from the new look sale (sad I know) only £10. My necklace was a gorgeous butterfly made from tanzanite, was £10 on ebay.
Hope this helps
