Hi,
I'm going to merge your thread with the existing one, there are people using the thread at the moment who have started planning their weddings & are eager to share tips & ask/answer questions, I think you'll get more replies there, we like weddings!

hi nikkipink22! I am due to get married on the 20th of this month and have actually saved a lot of money and had lots of fun organising it myself. I have a lot things to share when the big day is finally over...I'll be posting some tips that I have learned during the preparations. anyway, just to let you know that so far i have only spent about £2000 for everything, and I mean everything. So do get in touch with me if you need some help.Sealed Pot Challenge 2012 #1502:)

Hi, I am getting married this July and have found lots of inspiration in this thread. Thank you!! We are splashing out most of our money on a big reception for all our friends so are trying to spend as little as possible on everything else, so this site has been invaluable.
I've found myself quite a cheap dress in Debenhams, but my fiance has his heart set on morning suits and top hats for him, his best man and three ushers. I looked at how much this would cost to hire from places like Moss Bross and it seems to come to at least £80 per person which I think is pretty extortionate (nearly as much as my dress, and I get to keep that!). Does anyone have any ideas on where/how we can get the suits cheaper?? (We live in London.)Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
Have you tried Greenwoods? I haven't got the brochure to hand, but think it was around £50 per person.
My brother used them for his wedding, and the service was fantastic. He lives in York and made the booking down there. I'm near Durham, but they organised it so we could take my boys and my Dad to a branch up here. They were all measured a few times to make sure the chosen suits would fit, and we got them a few days before the wedding so they could be taken home and tried on with shoes etc., to make sure they were ok.
After the wedding, my brother returned all the suits to the York branch to save us carrying them home. My youngests suit was filthy with a mixture of chocolate cake and red wine (he wasn't drinking it!) split down it, but they never complained about the mess on it.Here I go again on my own....0 -
Hi
Somewhere earlier on this posting started by Mrs Thrifty (if she hasn't changed her name) someone gave me some help at finding wedding dresses on ebay.
I am pleased to say I ordered a custom made dress that fits perfectly and only cost me £46 in sterling. So the money I saved on my dress I can spend on a really expensive pair of shoes in a totally un-moneysaving way.
If you do buy a dress from ebay then I would say read the feedback on the seller as I nearly bought from one seller but noticed the negative feedback. My dress is very nice and I am pleased with what I got for the money I paid, however the sticthing at the back isn't straight, that said I have 1.5years to lose weight and in that time will be able to get a tailor in this country to do the adjustments and make it straight at the back. The seller I bought from was http://stores.ebay.com/Antzinternational_W0QQsspagenameZstrkQ3amesubQ3astoreQ3a50QQtZkm
I did a buy it now so if you are on a tight budget like us and want to have a nice dress that your never wear again and spend the money on things that you will use again (for me my £350 shoes) then I would recommend checking out ebay, like all stuff on the web there is a risk!
Good luck.
