We have the same issue, where my other half's parents are divorced.

We decided to write the invites from us, especially given that we're paying for most of it anyway!

    So:

"Helen and Andrew request the pleasure of your company at their wedding" etc etc

Wow your day looked brilliant. Really liked yours and bridesmaids dresses how did you get them so cheap?

Thanks it was an amazing day. I got the dresses from tk maxx! The best shop ever!
Mine was presumably a debutante dress rather than a wedding dress and was lovely and light to wear (and even machine washable!). I went round 3 diff shops and bought every dress in the bridesmaid colour and made them try them all on - supprisingly little needed to be altered. Go for bigger sizes and make them smaller if you have to. we also sewed 2 tops together in a weird combination that wasn't noticable but made one fit better.
  • Provisonally booked our wedding yesterday for October next year! Money saving starts now!!!

 :( oh no hope that doesnt cause too much awkwardness on the day for you ,top table etc :(

generally you put the names of whoever is paying for the wedding, but these days most couples put from them and not parents :)

Ah yes i remember you saying now. I had a look in TK Maxx and found a nice gold bridesmaid dress one was in a size 4 and another in a 12 i bought the 12 and my bridesmaid tried it on but it couldn't be altered which was a shame. Nevermind i've got another 14 months to keep on looking.

    Hello everyone

My partner and I are getting married in September 2007. I can't wait to start trying on dresses, for which I'm going to stay with my sister in Glasgow so we can go on a dress hunt round all the shops there. (We live near Skipton in North Yorkshire so are limited when it comes to wedding dress shops).

My money saving plan is to try on loads of dresses in shops to find what style I like and what suits me and then try and get the dress either on the internet or in the sales cheaper that the actual price!

Anyway, I've already been searching the web for some ideas and I've come across this website called https://www.moonlightfashions.co.uk, on which are some gorgeous dresses for extremely reasonable prices - I am absolutely loving codes WP6087, MOW7027, A-10209, MW05701 and WP10169, all of which are priced between £159.99 - £229.99 (exc VAT & delviery etc.)

To me this seems too good to be true, the dresses are absolutely gorgeous. However, the thing that worries me is that the website doesn't look very professionally put together when compared to a lot of wedding sites - there are a number of spelling mistakes and some of the pictures aren't very clear. Also, there doesn't seem to be any details as to the location of the company.

Anyway, apologies to go on for so long, but I was wondering if anyone had used this website before and what they thought - obviously I do need to try dresses on to see what suits me etc, but do people think something like this would be too risky?

Any comments on what people think would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks, Sophie
  • im getting married september 07 too,on the 1st. I will say that you will have picture in your mind of what dress youll want but then when youve tried on several it will be nothing like what you imaged, i wanted plain simple 2 piece, only to find that what i fell in love with was the oppisite, all in one a line ivory with lots of detail. i too looked on the internet for dresses but couldnt find anything i liked, iwent all round our local bridal shops, only to look ( with my mum) only to find you had to book appointments, we were only looking and i felt that they were a bit snobby.Anyway the point im getting to is that i got my dress from debenhems it fitted like a glove people in the shop(customers) were telling me how beautiful i looked so i had to buy it, it was in the sale was £400 haggled with price got £80 off plus opened a debenhams account and got a further 10% off. Hope you find what your looking for!!
