Item arrives damaged?

    Then i will try and call him on tuesday if no luck then follow up with chargeback ,with as not as described, as i dont know if the guy has been telling me the truth about anything since we made the deal.
    He has nothing to lose been a member for over a year and no feedbacks,no bids and no other items for sale apart from one other item on the same time as the auction i bid on and i find this so strange.
    Problem is he told me as he was sending it he was leave to go overseas and says he would talk to me the following week but would this be true.
    This is the first time i have used someone with no feedback and the last time i will use any newbie but i suppose it can happen with anyone.
    I just wish it did not show up as it makes me sick to see such a rare item to be damaged like this when it could have been ok it he had cared to pack it.

    Yes it could have been posted damaged and i am thinking this was what happened but it was also possible the the small part thats missing could have dropped out the box, as i have said i have never seen anything so crap packed in all my life,the box had holes and was falling apart so the part thats missing could easy have fallen out of box as it was just a crap thin box not fit for sending anything. And this what bugs me most that it was not packed with any effort.

    You have answered you're own question.Why are you waiting for us to sort it out for you?Don't ask for advice if you don't like the help given to you.

    Just go for the charge back and get him banned.Like you say he's got nothing to lose.

    Well i gave them a call and with a result i think,got his wife and then him at his work and i told him about the packing he did and how poor it was packed etc.
    He said it was the first time he has sent anything like this as i probably thought by him being a newbie to ebay and not have used paypal before as i had to tell him to claim his money.
    He thought he had packed it good enough and i told him the truth that this must have been the worst packing job i have seen ever with a very thin box,no packing and bubble wrap that was not even stuck together.
    He sounded ok on the phone and takes the blame and says he will refund me tonight and if i wanted a cheque or use the paypal again i asked to be paid by paypal again as its much quicker.
    He asked about getting the item back i then said well if you need it back you would have to pay me extra so i can sent it as i am paying no extra, so i am not sure what he will do there.
    I need some advise as to what i do get a cheque or paypal refund and also as he has insured it to help him out what he does to claim for it as i said to him if he tried claiming for it damaged if sent back to him the post office would just laugh as packing was a joke and said he better give it a while and claim as missing box,if he did claim as missing box can the box be traced or proof that it was delivered as it had no signed for etc only standard.

    I am just trying to help him out by getting his money back as well after he refunds me but at the end of the day its all his fault as if he had cared to pack it then there would be none of this, what should he do to claim it back.

    I am not sure who is sick more me or him, im sure its me as i wanted one of these for many years now and dont think i will ever see one anytime soon, and it would be cool to be still able to keep him and try and repair but it will never look as good and that way i have a rare item till i find a replacement, but for now my money for it is more important and would not really care it i had it even when i would love to keep it and try and fix,so if he wanted it back i have no problem as long as he refunded me all i paid and paid for me to sent it back to him.

    I am not refunded yet so maybe i am getting happy to quick but i do feel for the guy as well as he sounds on the phone as if he thought he had packed it good, i just gave him advise if he sends anything fragile or anything like this again to anyone make sure he makes an effort in packing as this would never have happened.

    But honestly how some people can pack things like this and think they get to the buyers address without any damage im shocked as its the worst packed item i have ever had and thats with many purchases including buys since 1999 and using usa ebay as well as uk ebay.

    I am not refunded as yet but it pays i think to contact sellers as this is the second time since 2001 on ebay uk i had to phone someone and work out great,i maybe as said be getting happy to quick but i think it pays to phone before taking action.

    Just some advise on myself and him on what we should do to finish this.
