Item arrives damaged?

Item was not signed for just handed over the door from postman,so i need to know how best i work this. I already emailed the seller saying i wanted the full refund which i still have to get a reply from so he will know that its arrived but post office or paypal will not know?
Do we work this out that i get all my money back from him and he gets it back from post office as lost item or what.
All i am interested in right now is my money keep item or not.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
Whatever you decide, if you have a digital camera, I would take photos of the broken items plus poor packaging as evidence0

So i am still not sure what way to take this hope that the guy emails me with a reply i want to hear, even when he says he was going overseas or go right away and do a chargeback as i really have a funny feeling on this one.
The guy had no feedback or bid on anything but had an account for a while, pics of the item on auction with the date which could have been maybe before he damaged it himself and maybe try a fast one on me,by packing it poorly and then make a claim.
Then he might just be an honest newbie that wanted to sell something and earn some money on an item he no longer wanted and sent to me which unluckly came damaged.
But as far as the auction was conserned while it was on auction the guy had no mention of p+p costs or if paypal was a method of payment and i sent several emails over this time on auction with no reply until it ended, and was told he had been celebrating a special time with family and that was the reason for no reply emails.
And to my shock i did not get ripped off with p+p cost which i feared he might try and also shocked he wanted paypal as method of payment which he was new to as i had to tell him to claim his money.
I then ask him when it would be sent and when i should look out for it and he tells me 4/5 days and he says he was going overseas and would be in touch the week after.
Now this maybe still be an honest seller but things have not been smooth from the start and i am just wondering if this was a scam from start as who knows maybe he broke it while having that celebration and wants to claim on it from post office and get more as if you showed anyone the way this was packed no effort was done whatsoever.
I have packed items less fragile better and this has just been a joke of a packing job and at this time i cant really be bothered even waiting for his response as if he is overseas like he says then i might not hear for a while.
I could understand it being damaged and would not be as angry if they packing had been better as at least he tried but this has to be the worst packing i have ever seen on anythin i have purchased, i buy items like it a lot from the usa which are more fragile than this one and have over 200 them and this is by far the worst.
I cant understand what the guy was thinking about packing like this, unless as i say he already knew it was broken and packed it that way to look as if it was broken on the way, all i can say as said before in this if post office seen it they would just laugh.
Now i need some advise as to how i deal with this as i cant really trust this seller, do i claim for it not arriving or as not as advertised? and just so you know it was not sent recorded it was sent as standard so seller has no proof of it arriving apart from me emailing saying i want a refund, could he hold that against me?
I am not to rip anyone off but i hate paying money which in a little high for such item and be left with it as badly broken becuase he did not make the effort of packing it looks to me as if he did not care how it arrived, unless as i said he broke it before sending which i am very sure could have been the case.
Please give some advise as to what i do as someone said here i should get the guys details and call him but not give number but did you know that when buyers do this the seller also gets the buyers details sametime so this would not work it i tried to call him.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -
I think you should probably give him a few days when he gets back from being overseas but you should demand a full refund and he should give you it as its obviously his fault.
We sold some glasses on e-bay which due to our poor packaging arrived smashed. The winning bidder informed us immediately and she sent us a pic as proof. We fully refunded her immediately as it was obviously our fault.
I don't think he would have broken it before sending it to you.Who would want all this hassle? (but there are weirdos out there) lol
He probably thought it was adequately packed.
You might have to chalk this one down as a bad experience.Hubby bought an item that was described as perfect but was damaged when it arrived. The seller sent abusive e-mails when he complained so we reported it to e-bay who didn't care because they had got their fees so wasn't bothered.
I hope you get the result you want but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.......:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Well as he wanted to use paypal then that helps a lot as a buyer, but i have took pics of the item and the box just incase and all i want right now is my money back.
The bubble wrap was not even wrapped around the item there is no tape on the bubble wrap to keep it together, the guy must have thought this item was made of steal the way it was packed, box was even as thin as paper it was almost folding in itself as it was so thin. and no other packing not even newpapers.
even when i asked him to use strong box and wrap it like a mummy with many layers of bubble and pack well and secure, it was none of what i asked.
I am very experienced in this sort of item in both buying from others and also selling to others and this person made no effort in packing and i mean no effort.
Im sure he would win prize of the year for worst packing job and thats why i have a funny feeling about this maybe you see no point in him sending it like this broken but then maybe he can claim for it as damaged to me.When it was already broken.
I am so annoyed that i am out of pocket right now and that i have wanted this item for many years, find one and then seller makes no effort in packing it, as its just been a complete waste of time, i think it was made of fiberglass or resin so they are not the best things to break but will if no packing then it will break.
Why should i wait for the seller to contact me?why wait?its his fault he did not do his part of the deal as of packing him the way it should have been.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

Hintza wrote:I would pull the sellers contact details and telephone him. The tone of e-mails can sometimes be misread. This requires you to stay calm if you want a positive outcome. Going overseas would be ringing alarm bells for me...ruse to avoid answering e-mails. If you call do not leave answerphone messages and ensure your number is not shown.

You say all the pieces are there except for 1. Surely this means that the item was sent damaged, if it wasn't damaged when the seller posted it all the pieces should be there.0
