Free Nokia Lumia 800, £12.50 per month
Options
Carphone Warehouse are offering the Lumia 800 for free on Talkmobile (who use Vodafone signal) for £12.50 per month on a 24 month contract with 250 minutes, 5000 texts and 500MB internet.
This equates to £300 over the life of the contract, which is only £50 more than you can buy the phone on it's own for (and you're getting minutes/data/texts included).

The next two Lumia phones will be annouched tomorrow at 3pm by Nokia. I would think the price of the 800 (and 900) will come down even more soon.
That said I have an 800 and love it. I can not wait to see the next phones and their specs for when I can upgrade in November.Total Debt Feb 2012 [STRIKE]£12,153[/STRIKE] 10674 16.5% Paid

This is a short term offer, ends on Thursday apparently.

This post indicates the problem with people and contracts and how people's mindsets are twisted by the resellers.
Your mindset should be along the lines of "This is only £2.50 per month (say) more than it would cost for the same minutes/texts/data, so the phone is only costing £60 over 2 years".
Always work out the additional cost of the handset, not the service!!!0 -

That said, The phone itself costs around £250. A roughly equivalent sim only from Talkmobile would cost £8 per month which equates to £192 over the same 24 month period (8x24). This contract will cost £300. 300-192=108 so you are effectively paying £108 for the phone, which is less than half what the phone retails for. That good enough for you?0 -

guys, if you are not satisfied with it then don’t you get worried you have space for insert memory card in it!
Such a great deal?
Thanks

My mind isn't twisted by anybody, I was merely posting a deal for a phone that might help somebody save some money, this being money saving expert. It's for anyone looking at taking out the contract to work out the cost of the phone (if indeed they care about the additional cost of the phone).

Sorry - I guess I didn't get my point over well enough.
Basically it is this. Until we get to the point where when taking out a contract, people concentrate on the minutes/texts/data first and the handset second, then we will continue to get all the threads of people who no longer can afford the contract they took out in order to get the shiny new handset and the "must change every 2 years or earlier".
The resellers and manufacturers have done a brilliant job in turning what should be the vehicle for us making contact with people and information into a fashion accessory.
Your initial post was a good heads up on what could be a good deal for MSE members as the total cost is little more than a sim-only contract. :beer:0 -

I probably shouldn't have used the word free in my thread title to be honest.0 -

This contracts gone up to £15 per month now, still a good deal at £360 over the 24 months.0
