  • Hiya
Am feeling a lot better now thanks, but you know what these things are like, the kids got it after me and i ran myself in to the ground running around after them and got ill again!

Glad the birthday bash went well.

I have had a nightmare couple of weeks, heating broke last week, luckily its a new boiler and under warranty so they came out but we froze for a day, then this week my car broke down, the RAC said it needed new battery before Xmas so its already had that, then this week they reckon it needs a new key as its the immobiliser, £120 plus VAT for a new key!!
So we are living on the freezer and cupboard contents, not that its a bad thing really, they were full to brim so we are not going without, just economising till 28th Jan when i will be able to restock.

    Hope you are well?

What an absolute nightmare you are having... Unfortunately any bug goes thru the whole family, but doubly hard when it hits a toddler... Hope they are both okay now.
Boiler incident sounds carp... a new boiler which has broken down already and you wait a day freezing for it to be fixed not good...
And cars dont get me started on them... First day down in Cornwall seeing my mam and dad and get the phone call from our son.. He hit black ice and the car we gave him is a write off!! Been all week trying to help them and my uncle... all disabled ... and also trying to sort out the insurance with him... Been a nightmare situation... but he is okay.. and when the policemen said to him he was lucky to be able to walk away from the accident.. You have to count your lucky stars.... Just some weeks are sh1tty and this was one of them... like yours...:rotfl:
Still waiting to see the boat when we get home... Iced up canal... it has no warmth in it and I am just wondering whether the pipes will break or the engine not start....... again ahhhhhhhh !!!!:rotfl: Or maybe I wont be able to get home because we are snowed in...:Tx At least you have cupboard and freezer food to raid... We will be joining you on the thrifty rest of the month with a few no meat days....:) xx Take care x

    Hiya
    Hope you are well?
We are all fighting fit now.

I sympathise re the car accident, this time last year i hit some black ice on the A1 and hit the central reservation at 70mph, spun off it and hit it again, somehow managing not to hit any other cars, we ended up facing the wrong way in the fast lane against the central reservation.
It was pitch black, 6pm ish, and the crash had knocked out the battery so we had no lights and all this traffic was bombing towards us, the 999 people on phone told us not to get out as we would be hit, my toddler was knocked unconscious by the impact but i was fine, we had to be cut from the car when they did finally arrive, it took them 25 minutes to get to us.
The car was a squashed box and the child car seat was literally cleaved in two.
The Police, Ambulance, Fire men, Recovery vehicle, Insurance Garage and Final Garage all couldnt believe we walked away with no injuries at all. I had receptionists from the recovery garage ringing in tears when they saw the car seat cos they thought she must have been seriously injured.

So this year my Mum bought us winter tyres for the car, they are amazing, even through all this snow and ice we havent done even the tiniest skid and we have bombed up steep un gritted hills to get to my mums with no problem and left 4 wheel drives in our wake lol

My advice for winter driving safety now is invest in winter tyres, they may be an expense but they do prolong the life of standard tyres as you only use them part of the year and so your standard tyres get a rest lol.

GTG have some jacket potatoes in oven and they need turning now (cheap food lol)

OMG that accident sounds horrendous... mind you no accident is any good...:o But my god what a lucky escape your daughter had.. how frightening.. I do agree with you re the winter tyres, problem was was not until the accident happened that we thought about it :o Because we were away we had not even thought of telling son to watch re black ice and it was a journey he does most nights to get to his job. With hindsight (isnt that a wonderful thing !!) he should of obviously realised it was getting a LOT colder outside and gone on the motorway...:o
Anyway he has a deposit and we have sorted him out with a new Kia Picasso... not our money... his.. but he has no debt.. does not go on foreign holidays, goes out partying occasionally, rarely drinks does not smoke... so we said go for it... So the downside is he is in debt for the next five years:eek:
So a good priced brand new car that will not need an MOT for the next three years, tyres brand new... warranty for 7 yrs... Hoping it is worth it..
How did you feel after the accident? I feel he is rather scared to drive again... !!!
Back at work today... usual hassle but not too bad.. and I love my workmates... Managed to get one person a payment that was due to her....:T Makes you feel worthwhile...
How are you feeling?? Cold has gone and we are now left with the rain...Joy of joys...:rotfl:
PS: re cheap food we are staying with son and daughter in the house for a while as ferrying them around in dads taxi to work and back:) Brought a massive pork joint mahoosive......!!! Two dinners and feeding sons friend just finished it tonight... even the cats had some..... Was on a "whoopsie" so excellent value... just dont want to see pork for a while:) x

Still checking on you.... omg I sound like a stalker:eek: We are still in the house doing the chores... Husband doing the garden whilst nearly chopping his thumb off... God why are men so dangerous with tools :).... Our son gets his new car very soon and it is way better than ours.... omg we are paupers lol x
Hope you are all okay :)
  • Hiya

Men are a funny lot, my dad always has a bit left over when he repairs something lol
But you should be grateful you have a good one :) I dont have one, a man that is, and miss being in a relationship terribly. Its lonely having no one to come home to.

Pork sounds like a bargain LOL

After my accident i was ok surprisingly but the first time I had to go out with my kids in the car i shook for an hour before and half a day after it, but i got better.

I have the final repair bill for my car, its been playing up since before Xmas, over a thousand pounds, so i guess that wont be happening, will have to get rid of it i suppose

I feel thoroughly depressed and i hope its just circumstances and not my bipolar cycling again.

    Hope you are ok?

  • Sorry to hear about the car. Thats definately enough to make anyone feel depressed .

Can you tell the difference between general meh and your bi-polar starting? DH knows when he is getting low and when he needs just a kick up the butt or he needs meds and time out (he isn't bi-polar but has clinical dep)

I honestly dont think January is a great month anyway.. It always seems so long and mundane.. Little sunshine and still darkness when you get up and get home..:( I really hope it is not your Bi polar starting up but as yahme says nip it in the bud and nip to the GP`s you have an awful lot to cope with in life and you will get good days bad days.
Before I met my husband (which was a very long time ago) I was very lonely and I have never forgotten how that felt. I think we long for that "special" one. My daughter was 23 and had never had a boyfriend .. a few dates, but never special... She met someone from an introduction by a friend and they have now been together 14 months and very happy. It was the same for me just a random chance meeting ... So when you feel better get yourself out with some friends.. not to meet someone but just to have some "you" time, who knows what may happen? I am sure you son can babysit.
I think you are remarkably brave and upbeat but staying positive all the time must be draining.. I sometimes have a real wobble, cry, maybe stamp my feet:) and I feel so much better.
You sound a great mum, a person with a very good sense of humour, unfortunately you just have not met the right person yet.. but anything can happen and as much as life can pee us off it can also be pretty amazing ... :) x
PS: You need to do something about that blooming loan Mrs .. It is disgusting what you are being charged... Have a word with financial ombudsmen.. I also think these guys need some bad publicity...

btw... sorry to hear about the car that is depressing in its self..:( Could anyone help you out with a little banger mot/d taxed even just for the year ?? We had the same problem and brought a suzuki Alto for 900 pounds, best car we have ever had.. Eventually it had to be scrapped but never cost us a penny..
