Have been looking at these two phones, which seem to fit his requirements.

Any comments on which is best, the Nokia C2-01 or the Nokia Asha 201? John Lewis have both for £64.95 with a two year warranty.

He says he isn't that bothered about a qwerty keyboard because he is so used to predicted text.

    Thanks.

Make sure you call the network and block adult sites if is age be as such needs, google shopping both models, the Sale of Goods Act states 6 years for the likelyhood of most electrical devices, no warranty of parts overrules SoG Act, unless J.Lewis includes accidental damage then would J.Lewis defo get my cash - such a good company like Co-op that invests in employees terms & benefits while other employers strip them away.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Don't need to worry about network blocking because he is 30 in two weeks time:)

That is interesting about the Sale of Goods Act, never heard of it before. So does that mean any electrical devices automatically have a 6 year warranty, or am I completely misunderstanding this?

Although I have seen the phone cheaper elsewhere, it is not usually a sim free one.

Tell the lazy sod to MSE himself then lol, thought we were talking of a "young ane" LOL, yes SoG Act expects normal usage of a electrical/electronic items quality to last approx 6 years (5 in Scotland), EU directives dont even come near UK SoG Act with 2 years.

Sure Citizens Advice website would have some info on the six years expectancy as not to confuse you with legal jargon terms/legislation (which I will post below for anyone who can understand non layman terms ;))

    SoG Act 1979 & amendments:

EDIT Citizens Advice main faulty products page (it will be in there somewhere) http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/wales/consumer_w/consumer_common_problems_with_products_e.htm

AFAIK 6 years is the maximum term when customers are entitled to raise a claim. Generally it is not the same 'life expectation' for all 'electrical' goods.
