neighbours and drugs

So we have new neighbours. They either own the house or rent it privately. Our house are semis and attached. They are a young couple with a toddler. They smoke drugs in their garden most days. To the point if I have my back door open the whole down stairs spells like I have been smoking.

We tried talking to them but they were not interested. Any ideas what we can do?

You could report them to the council or possibly the police as drugs are illegal. If you can find out who their letting agents are and possibly contact them too.
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

    Get on with life?

I'm sure you enjoy "drugs" every so often like alcohol and maybe tobacco, why begrudge others? It's not like they are being abusive.

Harsh and unfair. Who is to say the OP does enjoy any form of drugs? And, even if they do smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol it is not illegal.

Furthermore, I suspect the OP couldn't give a damn about the fact that their neighbours are breaking the law by taking drugs - what bothers them is the impact on their lives.

I'd hate to keep my doors/windows sealed shut all day in order to avoid my home smelling like a drug den!

OP - I suggest getting in touch with the community police people.

Tell them to either stop polluting your environment with their habit, or you'll report them to the police. If they don't change their ways then report them.

    It's only cannabis.

Doubt they would get evicted for such a "drug". It's not like they are being abusive to the OP.

A bit of rational thinking here, barbeques smell, pets smell... and?

I don't know how enforceable it is but my tenancy states drug use is not allowed under any circumstances. Can't say the LL has ever popped round to check though!

You might ring around all the letting agents to see who is in charge, or spend £3 (IIRC) on the Land Registry to see who owns the house. Environmental Health can be contacted about the smoke, or the police about the drugs but I suspect they will not be that interested unless you think your neighbours are dealing. Then there is Social Services ....

Its not the same at all. I have children, and when their friends parents drop their children round to play I dont want them thinking we are drug users. I dont want the clothes on my washing line smelling of drugs so when my children go to school the teachers will think they live in a house where drugs are smoked.

I dont care if they take drugs, I care that my house smells of them.

if its rented then its by the people who lived their before who would not care, they did it themselves, just not very often so it wasnt a problem.

I wouldnt love the fact but it would be so bad, as I said before I dont want people coming into my home and thinking we do drugs.

Report the troll, don't feed it! Even if the owners are not that interested it's unlikely the letting agent knows that, if there is one. As I say, try Environmental Health.
