Car warranty 1 month only - soga rights?

No problem buying a car whose engine was replaced if all the paperwork is legit and the work was correctly done. We bought an elderly Caravelle some time back and I thought it was a very positive point that it had a brand new gearbox less than 20K miles ago and major engine work at that time all proven by main dealer receipts - I actually thought it was more desirable than one with original box and no engine work! It was a similar mileage to the car you bought.

It really depends on the condition of the replacement engine and the standard of the work done- an Audi S8 owner on a specialist forum actually discovered his car had had a brand new engine paid for under warranty by Audi before he bought it, in my opinion such work could actually improve the car, especially one that had already done starship mileage!

Thnaks, but I don't think a new engine being fitted is the same as a second hand one. There are lots of audi/VW/BMWs to choose from, why would anyone buy one that has had a secondhand engine - I wouldn't, but maybe I am in minority?

Anyway the garage has agreed to refund me less a 'useage charge' of 400 quid - which I am not impressed with but at least I get most of the money back and get to start over looking for a car.... and not high mileage audis!
