Car warranty 1 month only - soga rights?

......Under SOG you can reject and seek a refund although the dealer could resist. Needing a car will add to your case (dealer will have to pay or provide until the car is back with you) as will the involvement of your credit card company if you paid any of the cost on plastic.
As above, I'd go for SOG rather than warrenty
I paid with debit.
I still have my old car, though I was expecting to sell it, but I can hang onto it and re insure it, tax etc...
Not sure I am confident enough to just go guns blazing regarding SOGA rather than warranty.
I want my money back idealy, is this reasonable???

its still not been established why piston picked up
i i was the owner i wouldnt be rocking the boat at this stage to give selling dealer a cop out by shouting soga
i would have had an independent inspection prior to seller getting it though so i was sure of my position
remember this isnt a £2999 special
oh and i wouldnt have bought it with that mileage you people can say what you want but some fat bums still sweated all those miles in it0 -

Yes, I did have it checked by ind Audi specialist en route to the original seller - they were the ones that told be suspected piston...
I see your point about rocking the boat, just what I was thinking to be honest.
the mileage is not big for a well cared for modern car, my last car has 160 000 and runs sweet, it is just that this newer one was just what I wanted (leather, auto, alloys, s/roof, big spec car... made affordable because of high miles).
If it had a gradual wearing out of something, I would say yes, thats the high miles, but when something goes bang, it is a sudden and unexpected failure.... imho :cool:0 -
Garage has had car 10 days, they will not tell me where they have sent it (they say they couldn't remember) and have no idea how long it will take. I told them I was going to put in writing what I expect of them, they then got very angry with me!
Not sure what to do. I just want my money back now, but if I reject the car, I have to prove that the fault was there prior to me buying, which is not easy.
ANy other ides??

I would definitely be pushing for a refund - I think it's for them to prove it was not an inherent fault as you have had the car for less than 6 months.
I would also be looking at a different car. The 2.0tdi Audi's are not good for high mileages as described here, especially when coupled to the fragile Multichronic gearbox0 -

Spoke to trading standards today. Under SOGA I can ask for a refund, replacement or repair.
But, if I reject then then I have to prove it had a pre-existing fault, not the trader
. Thats sounds expensive, but I really want a refund now
The trader could argue in court that the engine is too high milegae to be fault free ??? Not sure if I want this expensive route0 -
Lot of money for a car with that mileage. Quick look on autotrader shows several for £1000 less with similar miles.
Still think i prefer Mondeo's. Same year and mileage for half that money.
Fingers crossed they sort it for you.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Thanks, but I just had a look too: 2 cars equivalent to mine are 8K and 8.5 K so I think mine was ok priced.
Mondeo when I'm a pensioner, but not right now
:eek:Does anyone know how in-depth an independent inspection needs to be before I can prove fault was there and reject the car??0 -

Inspection may require a total stripdown of the engine.
Any idea what has failed?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
