FT what a lovely cockatiel in the pic.How long did your girl live for? cockatiels are great pets, mine loves a headrub.Bet there's some funny storys about her idienty crisis lol

    xx

Ours didnt like hands (because of the guy we got him from(sorry im used to her being him if you know what i mean)) but loved to be kissed on the head.He lasted 18 years that was with having his head trapped in a door, living with a Doberman alsation cross and trying to peck off his behind(long bad story but we think an egg got stuck).
Was happy right until he died when he sat on his perch gave a few chirps then just fell over.

The identity crisis came when we got the bird.My great gran came to live with us had always had birds, every one male every one called billy so we got her a bird, the guy swore the colouring was such that he was male.Imagine our surprise when 6 month later it laid an egg:eek:

It also was given to us really young so all it ever saw were dogs and so thought it was a dog. They barked it chirped. They ran around it ran up and down its cage.Hence I have a photo somewhere of him standing in the middle of the floor with 3 dogs looking down at him.Wasnt scared or anything cause he was a dog! :D

CW that is because our governments are coward! rather than charging non-UK resident the proper fee(s) they turned a blind eye! Also, its saying that NHS/ GP are not allowed not to see non-UK resident when they are here and not only that its free for them:eek:

We don't have that privilege when we travel abroad:( Did you see the practice manager taking £££ I wonder how long he has been doing that. If I were to be the NHS minister - I would make him pay every penny that he received from blackmarket. There is no such things as unable to locate the file(s) that was done by him.

What I hate most was when the undercover states that - all those people featured on the programme "may be" prosecuted, I don't like the word " may be" because it always turn out that they get away with it.

I returned goods & I got banned!:rotfl: they take thousands of pounds from foreigners & abused NHS system & they got away with it:mad::mad::mad: this country has no strict law for people to abide to it. There is always some bl00dy human rights get involve with it. Its no wonder why those people like to come here.:(

Did you see the lawyer that was saying he sues GP's if they refuse to see illegal immigrants. Well thats not on at all.

I believe in human rights but why are illegal immigrants getting away with living here free of charge, their children use our schools and they get help with everything.

All I know is if I had an accident or became ill in Portugal I have to pay before I can see a doctor.

My DH can't get his operation due to cut backs. My DH had to have his medication changed to a cheaper one even though its not as good.

Someone in my family is having to pay for private medical treatment for her teenage daughter as she would be on a waiting list for at least a few years, she has already been waiting a year and as the matter became desperate they are now having to pay.

I know someone who needs surgery and can't have it due to cutbacks.

That practice manager should be arrested for fraud, he should be sacked, and do we believe that the doctors at that surgery didn't know what was going on. My practice manager doesn't have private meetings with "patients" in an office.

All this happens due to complacency and the couldn't care less attitude that is prevalent in this country.

FT what a beauty, if you have any pics i would love to see :D cockatiels have a great personality. My girl hates hands but loves kisses, cuddles and headrubs, shes loves my dh so much, parrots usulally love the opersite sex though. 18 years is a good old age. I would love more birds though.

PM glad to hear your bird is feeling a little better today, its surprising how resilient they can be.

As a teenager, I had a budgie which had a terrible accident, similar to yours. He was always let out of his cage in the evening and on this occasion had been let out before the washing up had been done after dinner. A bowl of near boiling water was in the washing up bowl and he flew over to the sink to look in the mirror which was just above the sink. He landed on a plastic bowl on the windowsill which promptly tipped over when he tried to perch on it and in turn he and the bowl fell into the boiling water.

As you can imagine he was extremely poorly and my parents wanted to put him to sleep but I wouldn't let them (now of course I realise how cruel that probably was). Anyway, he lost all his feathers on his underside and one foot was also badly burned, this eventually shriveled up and dropped off (I am cringing now at the thought of the pain he must have been in and the fact that I could have ended that pain if I hadn't been so selfish)!

After what seemed like months he eventually recovered and went on to live for several more years - actually until I got married and moved out. He stayed with my parents and one day soon after our honeymoon I went back to visit only to be told that he had "flown from this world because he had missed me"!
