Yesterday we dropped DD1 to her "new temporary home". They shared a 5 bedrooms house close to uni.

Everything seem alright until I went to the kitchen:eek: I was not happy that the landlord left the smoke alarm cable bare & dangling close to a light bulb that does not work!

The kids has been paying rental since August & the house was empty until last Friday. Landlord has plenty of time to get things sorted & safe!

I was fuming to say the least. My DD1 was the 2nd person arrived there. Her housemate arrived last Friday & I am surprised that her mum did not say anything.:(

What did I do - well this morning I have had a go at the letting agent. Scolded them for letting out "an unsafe house" to them. I told the agent get it sorted today. My daughter did not know that I contacted the agent. The agent rang me up & told me that the agreement is between the landlord & the tenants - the agent told me that the landlord said that her electrician is busy & will try & fix a date for him to go, I said that is not good enough & he is not the only electrician in York! told her that I work in a contruction firm & I know whats right & whats wrong & to cut the long story short. She give me the landlord number to call - so I called & left a message - YOU GET IT SORTED NOW!

Then I call York Council student accomdation line & reported it. After I put down the phone - I got a call from the landlord husband saying an electrician is coming today. Then I called York council & told them its sorted:D

If I leave it for the kids to do it - it will never get done. So I have to act on their behalf.

They don't know who they are dealing with:p
