Had a busy day..looking forward to going out for a nice meal tonight at a taverna that will make me a gluten free seafood platter.
Swept the house from top to bottom this morning, good cardio in this heat as its still 38 in the shade. Then tidied everything away and scrubbed the floor tiles in the bathroom with a scrubber and lemon juice to remove the minerals on them. They now look like new.
Made lunch then washed up. Sorted all the washing and ironing and folded and put away the towels, bedding and underwear and socks. Now I only have half a basket of clothes left to iron so will leave them till I have a full basket.
Put a few stitches in the seam of my blouse which I caught on a box and ripped last night. No real damage done so it goes back in my wardrobe. Made a brown loaf , gluten free of course, in my breadmaker and just indulged in a rare cheese and onion sandwich which was gorgous. Tried to make a fruit loaf but the breadmaker was still hot and would not fire up again. In the end I took the dough out and put it in the table top oven instead. It smells lovely, but then with apricots soaked in left over brandy it would do! It will go in the freezer in portions for me like the brown loaf.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Ive just had a phone call from the college my son is supposed to be attending tomorrow.
Out of 12 students enrolled in the course my son is doing, 4 didnt make the GCSE grades, and 5 havent bothered showing up for enrollment.
Ive got an appointment booked tomorrow with them to sort something out.
I told him that if we couldnt get him a course sorted for electrical engineering i'd get him sorted with a course for either hairdressing or childcare.:D
He offered me my coat.:rotfl:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi all.
Back after a chaotic weekend. Yesterday we woke up to a severe lack of water pressure due to a leak somewhere in the town. Unfortuately I didn't realise that we were reduced to a tiny trickle of cold water until AFTER I had rubbed shampoo into my hair and turned the shower on to rinse it off. With it taking about 10 minutes to collect a jug of cold water and me being due to leave for church in half an hour there was a panicky hissy-fit at chez nous.
Glad to see you back JackieO, it sounds as though you had a lovely holiday. Never mind about the money, think of the memories you have bought.
nlj: I would be tempted to talk very loudly in Nasty Neighbour's hearing about how you are looking into the possibility of legal action for breach of Anti-Discrimation Laws. How dare he!
wuvvies: Sorry, but you can't possibly work with such painful arms. I'm sure that if you had an accident with hot food or water you would have invalidated any insurance claim - either yours or your employer's - by working while unfit to do the job. Be very, very careful.
2tonsils: We go to one of the Greek Islands every year on holiday so I am aware of how hard life is for you. We went to Symi this year and went to several events run by a British couple who run a little teashop there. They had a Diamond Jubilee Party and a Magic Evening while we were there and raised funds for the Doctor's surgery that was having difficulty in affording medicines and drugs. When they took the cheque to the doctor he threw his arms in the air and said, "Thank God for the British."
The general feeling in the village was that they would do better to come out of the Euro and go back to the Drachma. I don't know how true that is but I'm not sure that things could look any worse than it already does.
Do keep us all posted. we usually come back with a lot of our holiday money still intact, but this year we made sure that we left most of it behind us.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Evening all, not read the thread yet, so hope everyone is OK, I will catch up later. We are just back from few days away, got a very cheap deal, and the hotel was brilliant, but weather was so bad we spent most of it in hotel pool or jacuzzi...but we had a great time, we needed to have some quality time together, life just gets in the way sometimes and you lose sight of why you married in the first place. Anyway we spent the weekend talking and sorting issues and we are now back on track so feeling really good about that. I also have today and tomorrow off so determined not to spend all my time at home with HW etc. So today had my hair cut, kinda drastic cut but actually I like it and the colour, bet OH will have something to say. Had a bit of good luck last night, I had a small win on the lotto, I have never won anything in my life so this came as a complete shock, there is so much we need at the moment that we were struggling to pay for, now I can order a new washing machine and a new bed for us and still be able to give the kids a couple of bob as well, feels good to be able to do that. Just had Mr T delivery, they made a complete hash of it, didn't deliver some of the meats I wanted, didn't substitute as requested and a lot of tins dented, and a couple of bottles of wine I didn't order, so I rang them and not alone are they going to refund my money for the missing items I can keep the wine....lovely. Going to have a browse now before OH comes home from work, will probably be back later, take care all.Cait, at long last signing on:rotfl:0

Evening all
Elona - hope DD is ok
Hilstep - hope hospital went ok this afternoon
Wuvvies - if lifting things are still causing you pain, I would stay off work a bit longer
Julie - ouch poor DS, hope he heals soon
Lovely sunny day here, shame I was stuck in a meeting all day! Good meeting though, all staff were present and we sorted out lots of bits ready for the next intake who are starting next week.
Just found out that my 18 year old cousin got married today! She has been with her partner 2.5yrs, and they have a little one. But she has caused a few issues in the family (mainly with her parents - and I call them that in the loosest sense of the word as they are pathetic!) so she kept it secret. Her parents are on holiday right now and found out via FB!
I have my MRI scan tomorrow for my vertigo, trying not to think about it to be honest!
OS wise - 2 loads done in the WM before work this morning and dried outside, recycling put out, food bin washed out, bins sorted, packed lunch made, freezer dinner for tea
Have a good evening all

Hi everyone.:hello:
Brainfog is bad this morning, so I'm using a Word.doc to do my replies as I read the thread.;)
So, to start with....
Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs 2tonsils:beer:
Hoppy Birdday Mr nmlc:beer:
Nmlc, you are totally right to be angry – I'd be spitting neutrinos if that was me. I hope they stump up without delay.
Elona poor DD; hope she's OK and it doesn't turn out to be anything serious.
Wuvvies I'd be seeing what the medical bods have to say before deciding on going back to work; if it's still hurting you like that, how can you do your job? I certainly don't think you should be even considering lifting heavy pans of boiling water! Have they given you any exercises to do t get the muscles back into shape again?
Hilstep fingers crossed that your DS doesn't have MS; but I think it's a good idea to get tests done – that way you know one way or the other what's happening.
Julie67 Ouchy! Poor DS – healing vibes for him.
Mr LW helped me defrost the freezer part of the fridge/freezer yesterday, so hopefully that'll work a bit more efficiently now. The fridge bit had been taking ages to get down to it's allotted temperature, and Mr LW is making noises about replacing it.
He also wants to buy a new desktop pc:eek: which I'm trying to get him to defer for a bit, as I need a new hearing aid; scheduled to have a chat with the audiologist next month on the 9th and see what's available. The one I have is quite ancient now, and the tech is no longer supported. Best to get it now, I guess, before DLA disappears and becomes just a fond memory.:D
Still, as I said to Mr LW last night, at least we're debt-free and mortgage-free, so whatever else happens, whatever we can't have extra, what we've got is all paid for.:T
I've been making myself put my DLA away as savings and just live on my Civil Service pension, as once the government have done, that's all the income I shall have, so I figure it's a good plan to get into practise.;)
No cooking today:T - I made a quiche yesterday, so we'll have the 2nd half of that for dins tonight.;)
Good idea about saving some of your DLA. But try not to worry too much. It will be done away with but the replacement will still give you something. OK it might be not as much as you get now, But it will be something.
My wife gets it as she is partly sighted, She gets low rate care and low rate mobility, She has her award for life. as in she never has to renew it, Like others do. I'm not sure what she will get from the new thing that they are bring it to replace it with.:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

My dad has had to start wearing them over the last couple of years. I just wish he would remember to put the things In!! He can not hear very good without them now. You can be talking away to him and then he will say something that has nothing to do with what you have been talking about for the last 10mins. He can not hear the phone ring. But he says that he can hear my twins fine without them!:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0
