British Gas Web Saver 12 ending options

Looks like the call centre have told a few porkies then as I called and queried this, but was told their standard tariff is clear & simple. According to the person I spoke to no one who is on websaver 12 is being transferred to the old type two tier system as they no longer offer it to anyone.

Just wanted to add my phonecall with british Gass today. as I am also on WS12 tariff and wanted to know what Ihave been told if I stayed with BG. If I dont sign up to their new Variable tariff through their email sent to me, as from 1st October I would be moved onto their new Clear and Simple Tariff and this is their new standard rate plan. If I sign up to their Variable one fixed till 2013 I pay 29.30p standing charge per day and each KWH is 3.576. I asked what the variable rate is going against and it took me ages to get an answer. It goes against the Standard tariff (Clear & Simple), so in effect if the put that tariff up by something stupid say 11% then the variable will incease too.
I'm now on a mad hunt to find something cheaper thats fixed - what a nightmare. So far I'm coming back to EDF Blue which is 23p standing charge and 3.4p I think it was KW. Thing is I cant move my Electricity as I have only just moved that.
Hope this helps someone.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
I've left too, as I've phoned a few suppliers today, and they all say 5 weeks for changeover. Gone with EDF Blue, before it's pulled0

Do EDF Blue do just gas ?
Edit: Someone has just kindly replied on my thread for help that EDF Blue is for both SuppliesTopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
A word of warning - I started the switch from BG WS12 dual fuel to Scottish Power via the moneysupermarket link on 15th August, allowing 6 weeks for the switch - WS12 ends 30th September. Had a call yesterday (4th September) from BG to say the switch would occur 19 Sept for electricity and 20th September for gas, and that as I was ending the agreement early there would be a £30 per fuel charge (ie £60!!). Immediately called Scottish Power to try to delay the switch, told I would have to call BG and get them to raise an objection to the transfer. I asked what would happen if I delayed giving SP the starting meter reading until 30th September and was told that it would not affect switchover date, they'd just pro-rate my useage back - one bright idea out the window!
Spoke to BG today, they said they could not and would not raise an objection to the transfer, neither would they waive the early termination fee - the woman I spoke to was unhelpful to put it mildly!
So, I call Scottish Power on the phone number on their welcome letter (not the customer service number on their website) and get a very helpful Scotsman who tells me an objection has already been raised, they'll re-submit the application to transfer in a couple of weeks so the transfer occurs after 30th September, and that this will not affect either my tariff or the moneysupermarket cashback offer - Result!!
Scottish Power 10, British Gas 0. Just about guarantees that, if and when I consider switching again, BG will not be in the mix.0 -
This is wrong!
The WebSaver 12 terms and conditions say that at the end of the tariff you will revert to the Standard tariff - not to Clear and Simple which is the one with the standing charge.
If you do not want the Standard then you can choose any other tariff which will have a standing charge.
There seems to be a few different answers being given on this thread, but what Timmy85 says above is correct.
If you are on Websaver12, and take no action at all, you will roll off on Standard tariff, not Clear and Simple. However, if you proactively take action to choose a different tariff, you can choose any of the existing open tariffs.
Agents cannot choose to put you on to Standard, but if you take no action at all this is what you will move on to (this has to be the tariff you move to, as this is the one that is referred to in the terms and conditions of the WS12 contract).
NB: I work for British Gas, but do not post here in an official capacity. Any views I express are my own, and do not necessarily represent those of my employer.0 -

But, according to the smallprint, BG's 'Standard Tariff' is no longer available to new subscribers
BG's new name for their 'standard' tariff is 'clear and simple'
Unfortunately, 'clear and simple' actually means 'even more confusing'0 -

Websaver12 customers are not new customers!
The difference betwwen the two is negligible for most customers unless the property is vacant for large periods and not using any energy.0 -

My gas consumption is minimal (£4 per quarter under Websaver 12). Under Clear and Simple, it will be around £25 per quarter.
I am switching to Npower GoSave, and the switch will take place during the first half of October. I have been assured by two different British Gas call centre people, in two separate calls, that the default option at the end of Websaver 12 will be Clear and Simple. I will wait with bated breath...
Websaver12 is also closed to new subscribers, but maybe they would make an exception for me, as I am an existing customer!0 -
"Closed to new sign-ups" means "If you do not have a contract which entitles you to this tariff, you can not sign up to this tariff".
At the moment, you have a term on your WS12 contract, which explicitly states that you will roll off on to the Standard Tariff when WS12 expires. This will be the Tier 1/Tier 2 tariff, and not "Clear and Simple". I am completely sure of this.0
