It is very frustrating and not particularly fool proof. I listed some items last week on free listing weekend as i had come to the end of a 30 day 3 item limit period and some of them didn't sell. I tried to relist them tonight and it wouldn't let me as I have hit another trigger. It is the same flipping items! Grrrrr

Not for a private seller as they are not trading.

This isnt meant literally... If eBay is a place to sell your goods branded or not, youre being prevented from listing those "classed" as branded... Vis a vis
  • Alternatively just register as a business and list as much as you like!! Nothing seems to be any different!!
I list a lot of 99p items because it's free, you can't do that as a business.

True, but the fees for 99p items are small, like 10p. From increase in sales, it will be easily covered.

Just change your account to business, verify your card etc if you haven't already done so and do whatever it takes to have limits raised and be in good standing order. Im sure you know the steps.

I would RARELY buy clothes of any kind on eBay, its fake clothes and perfume central. Caps that cost the best part of £100 going for a tenner with "more than 10 available" Brand tshirts for 1/4 of the price and not to mention large or xl hoodies that wouldnt fit my 6 year old niece ha. You can kind of see why eBay are limiting sales. However, these limits are likely to be individually based, it varies largely on the age of your account and your past.
  • 10p in the scale of fees skimmed by eBay and paypal isnt going to break the camels back!
  • On the surface, it doesn't seem to make sense because private sellers may be less likely to be selling fakes. I guess one reason may be that buyers are legally entitled to return buy-it-now items bought from business sellers, but that doesn't apply to auctions, and it would make a lot more sense for eBay simply to insist that listings of those brands must accept returns. I've never heard of fake M&S clothes, but they may be concerned about delabelled "seconds" being sold without this being made clear in the listing.

Or maybe they're just randomly shifting the goalposts because they can.

I don't know if it'd increase my sales, I'm a small private seller with a limited number of clothes to sell, unless I seriously had a declutter and was left with a capsule wardrobe!

You say this but I make very little money on my items. I do it purely to get rid of them and make a bit of money in the meantime, this would just eat into my minimal amount I make.

While the restrictions don't affect me I will stay as a small private seller I think.

The majority of fakes seem to be 'from China' not the majority of us clearing out the wardrobe of genuine clothing.
I may try the busiuness seller idea, although I am pretty angry. I wish there was a rival
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

I'd find it so hard not to fall foul of their branding regulations not to hit their limit of three items a month! Wouldnt be worth the bother if youre making so little on item.

But good luck its obviously not affecting your sales :)

    Part of the Furniture
Does anyone know if theres a list somewhere of what is considered premium brand goods?
I primarily buy but once or twice a year have a clearout and most of what i sell would be named secondhand goods.
