You should get a refund for at least 2 days rental, although I would personally be seeking a full refund.
If the car a) had no hand break b) didn't lock I think you would have a vey strong case to argue you are rejecting it as not fit for purpose... this does not sound like a road worthy vehicle (wouldn't the lack of hand break alone be sufficient to fail an MOT?).
You should seek a full refund on the sat nav.
Put your complaint in writing, hope they reply in a way whereby they are not rejecting the complaints. It would help if you took it to court to push the balance of probabilities in your favour.
What does the contract say about the return of deposits? 28 days seems excessive. Although a £750 deposit in itself is excessive.0 -
I have yet to stop kicking myself for taking the car! I didn't see how bad the car was until the next day when I took photos!
We were six including my two year old in a car seat so we really needed a 7 seater. I will be heading back there at midday tomorrow to discuss the hire as I gave it back 2 days early. Now more than ever I am worried about the deposit and waiting 28 days for it is extremely worrying. There is no mention of the 28 days period in the contract but it is a new policy they have introduced apparently as they would get many penalty notices/speeding tickets once they'd refunded the deposits.
There are simply no excuses for me taking the car apart from complete stupidity and perhaps more, but need advice on what I can tell them tomorrow to encourage an earlier (????!!) release of the money without there being fingers pointing at me for agreeing to take it in the first place. Don't think it will bother them too much if i mention the email that was sent to their main office was also ccd to trading standards, newspapers (2). Ironically my cousin married a solicitor and she is one herself but they are far too busy on honeymoon now :S So any "scare" tactics that won't backfire anyone???
Going to kick myself again...0 -
